I was wondering if anyone else thought that the possibility of a Shout Box would be an interesting addition to either the Forum and/or the main Website?

I've seen them on other sites - just a box that allows short comments (tweets I guess you could call them!) that people can punch in.

Perhaps it's not possible, perhaps it's not wanted!

I just thought I'd toss it into the arena for thoughts!

I think it's a good idea. Helps newer members get to know older members (thinking of the future when the forum gets big) and builds a tighter community. Plus it can be a place to toss around ideas, its a lot quicker than sending PM's etc. Doesn't mean to say people would stop posting on the forums, though.

 

its also an avenue for petty back and forth arguing... but.. ya

 

I have some sympathy for what One Reason says actually, I have seen Shout Boxes being used in a negative way - ther only real way to see what would happen is to set one up and see what happens!

I used to be co/owner of a Vietcong (it's an online PC game) Clan website and we did have to remind certain members of the Clan about their posting habits but after an initial set of 'warnings', the message was conveyed and things worked fine.

Anyway, I'm more than happy to see what the Poll says.
