Do DAWS have an audio engine? Sound Quality wise are Cubase 5 and 12 the same?

    No.

I have no idea... But I suspect filters have been improved.

    That´s kinda interesting!

This is for Dolphins and Dogs only->
Made a little test while i was recapping the audio card, everything is the same, literaly, nothing has moved a micron, nor knob nor software or anything else.
which one is "the one"? Dont try nulling them before hearing.

There could be theoretically aliasing. Even some hardware samplers have it. But now I would assume all DAWs use at least cubic sample interpolation.

Never was a fan of her singing...but some parts of her:bleh:
Once Mick Jagger called Madonna "the voiceless fool", so JLO is in that league too

Yes, Madonna and JLO run on bad audio engines. Gotta give it to Madonna though, her output up to the early 00s was nothing short of impressive.

I beleive in Ghosts as an abberation in a process that shouldn't exist, but does and is often irreproducible. Ghosts as beings I have a harder time with, souls that walk the earth dead but undead, shouldn't have clothes, since clothes have no soul..
But the world is full of things we cannot explain, we are programmed to ignore things that fall outside the parameters of our understanding. There is a fascinating video on UFO pheomena that points this out and really changed my understanding of what maybe happening in our world.

    Ultraterrestrials...

well done, it posits, that whatever or whoever is causing it, has a deep understanding of human perception and psychology and is using artifacts in our programming to manipulate us in our perception of them.

I've had two experiences with ghosts. In the first occasion, nobody has ever come up with an explanation of how a volume of the Encyclopedia Britannica tucked in tight on a shelf next to the full set can fall out onto the floor with nobody in the room...and be the volume that begins with "St" effected while talking about how he was missed, that being my dead uncle who's name was Stephen. I query anyone.

Cubase VST 5 was a 32 bit app I believe. Internally it may have been more. What I remember most about it was that it didn't have much capacity for handling larger track counts - of course that may have been more a limitation of the hardware of the day. I do recall that it was more prone to hanging/crashing on a broader spectrum of platforms than the newer 64 bit relatives.

I had seen threads so many times about this and never cared as little as I do now. But someone would make a comment like "this sounds exactly like something else", and I would think of how much work someone would have to put into testing every silly little thing in a DAW to say this. Plugin developers often comment about circuit modeling, all the different measuring points they would sample at or code to match and develop an accurate emulation of something. Some kind of informed discussion.

Imagine my surprise when I read a little more into it, and figured out this topic of conversation is for programmers whose intent is to say "my $50 DAW, or even free DAW; sounds just like Cubase and it costs $600". Stick a file in both and play it. See? identical. :suicide:

So if you are the programmer, you have some interest in people believing what you try telling them. If you are someone trying to decide if you should install the Free version of FL, or some other SE version DAW that you got bundled with your new $100 audio interface; it's not going to matter anyway. And if you are on here with nearly unfettered access to the full pro versions of every DAW, the final rendered file you create is still going to end up however you want it to. Or you are the problem.
