Weirdly I had to restart the whole iPad to make it work. Now it's fine. Go figure.

The new one sounds warmer to me. Trash 2 was instantly abraisive and metallic. You have to get there with this one. I need to play with it more

Maybe it sounds better (less digital), maybe it has better modern GUI.
But they shouldn't castrate it! Why?
Why there is only low pass filter? Why they not added high pass, band pass and notch also? Just those basic!
    Why only 1 modulator?
Why no button to easly turn off bands?
Why there is no possibility to make own shapes in waveshaper?
    And many other things!
    Why? Just Why Izotope?

They just should make it like they do but redesign and apply all the functions from previous version.
    Some advanced tabs etc.

Now they only can make Trash Pro with all the functions from Trash 2 and look from their new Trash poop.
If they wanna avoid disappointment from Trash 2 users.

    Lol. Words fail me.

Edit: most users focused on distortion and convolution in a distortion plugin. Just throw the other modules in the trash. They don't need em anyway.
Most users have relied on presets because these presets have provided a very complex and interesting sound through the interaction of the individual modules. Who would have thought?

"We know from customer research that most users are focused on the Trash and Convolve modules and relied heavily on presets"

"This reboot of Trash keeps the focus there while adding a much more playful interface to help you get truly custom and exciting distortions"

So they working on Trash Pro?
    It looks like that! :guru:

LOL. You guys making jokes on it but marketing side really looked like your parody

It's fun and simple distortion but it's not Trash2. iZotope did the same with the new Insight. NI has gone all kinds of fucked up with their ways.

    Spektral Delay anyone?

  11. :D That press release is a piss poor bit of firefighting. The executive who green lit this approach is using customer research to cover his fuck up.

'It's the users fault it's shit!'

And having worse presets means they didn't even meet their own design brief.

With 2's reputation they had the keys to the castle - probably the greatest, most loved distortion VST ever. With 3 they've made arrogant presumptions and dropped the keys down the drain.

Trash is gonna be one of those plugins, isn't it? The type of plugin that gets swamped with DLC packs of 20-50 presets made by people who once dabbled in music production/sound design but have since given up on that in favour of a YouTube career.

except its not really a new plugin per se but an update of an existing one.

Reboot! Yeah that says it all. Future updates will likely include the older features
re-charged in upgrade fees. This form of marketing generally doesn't work. Shame.

Is it really was necessary to put 8 minute video tutorial for Trash Lite?

What annoys me is that they could have saved themselves alot of trouble by NOT calling the plugin Trash.

Also, in my opinion, the plugin is half-baked in so many aspects.
    • It has randomisation buttons, but no A/B or undo to compare or temporarily cache randomised settings.
    • Then they implemented an autogain that acts super aggressively without properly compensating for the actual volume change. I'm not a software engineer - so maybe there are reasons not to do it this way - but I also wonder, for example, why they didn't just apply the transfer curve as an inverse function to the output after the waveform modulation. I have used this method many times with clipper functions, sine functions, etc. It works perfectly. Maybe they did exactly that, but then something is wrong in the calculation. However, I suspect they used a simple RMS measurement.
    • Or why can't the filter be positioned freely in the processing chain?
    • Etc, etc. I could go on like this for a long time...
Questions upon questions upon questions, each one leading further into a labyrinth of questions...

I feel sorry for the people who coded this shit. I think they did a pretty decent job. But the product design sucks. I'd better not even mention the marketing... oops.

Gotta agree with @Sinus Well , this is absolutely not Trash 3 for those of us who were expecting such. It's very good on it's own merits, and a great sound mangler it is.

I'm keeping both, 'cause now having spent time with it I'm really liking it. Very heavy on the CPU still, but it's running 12 convolution models at the same time at most. Now, if one really needs that is another discussion.

Now... if someone would combine Trash2's pre/post filtering with this distortion engine I'd be a very very happy goblin!

in another dimension Izotope never found the ircIII algorithm, and nobody ever would have heard of this company in the music industry.

spektral delay was freaking ahead of its time and then they just discontinued it and so far i havnt seen any replacement for it.

I had a play with Trash2 again, it has such a nice GUI and simply offers so much sound design potential.

Trash redo, does sadly look like something created on a gay-party, why so stupid colors? why not a normal black GUI?
