To me it really just sounds like raising a frequency range or taming it.

You can get this sort of impression from any tool you don't know how to use.

I would bet real money that your impression (or anyone that claims that this digital EQ A sounds this and that digital EQ B sounds that) wouldn't stand a proper AB test.

You hope that pro engineers see this and will stop using Pro-Q 3

For me that's really strange, because with Pro-Q i feel like using the magnum opus, the holy grail of equalization, the result of decades of study about filtering in a way i get zero degrees of deterioration on my sound. That plugin never lies. if you boost, you boost, if you cut, you cut.

If you put Pro-Q 3 across all the channels of your mix you will get the sound of the most expensive mixing console ever built by a human being. Think about Oxford Digital Console

Analog is the antonym of virtual, though with a realistic gui slapped on sells lots of plugins.

I seem to have been infected from reading "The King/Foster" threads. HELP!!!

Voosteq Model N Channel and Material Comp. You can thank me later

Also, the old but gold SonEQ free by Sonimus. And anything that NEOLD and Fuse Audio releases. They really know what they are doing, unlike some others!

If you are on Windows I can highly recommend VarietyOfSound plugins, the Thrillserker and Tesla series in particular

What an excellent list with some timless plugins. Already collected and big fan of Softube, Nomad factory, Overloud. Softube - Chandler Curve Bender has a phenomenally deep low end. Thank you for taking time and making this great list. Your help is highly appreciated.

Collected the one from the ignite Amps and it sounds awesome especially on the low end and add tube texture to the sound. Thank you for suggestions bud, very helpful indeed.

Will keep that in mind but I gotta admit trying out new stuff is kinda fun. I'm not a collector but I still take the backup of the stuff I like even though I probably wouldn't need it.

Many thanks for the advise and all the help.

Sure, do what you enjoy. That's the most important thing. :)

But be warned, many people get lost in the testing/optimization process and forget that they actually wanted to make music.

I'll just thank you now. The Voosteq wasn't on my radar until you pointed it out to me so I tested it on my voice and liked it very much.

Alright, thank you for the suggestion. Not a fan of digital UI but will give it a try. Seems like this plugin has a firm fan base.

I'm with you on this. Don't really like the idea of channel strips but as things evolve, now the channel strips are based on modulation. I myself like IK multimedia's Mixbox very much. The idea that you can add and remove effects based on what you need plus top quality IK effects and many of them right into the box.

Apart from that, Channel N is also very good. Not only it has exactly the same fx desired bit sounds good too not to mention it's good looks and well coded piece of software (no dependencies outside of the main library)

I think Pro-Q is the first choice for surgical operations. Everything is laid out so well you just reach for it and it's there right in front not to mention coded so well. Have anyone ever read any Fabfilter plugins causing a crash or memory leak or anything else ? No matter what host or configuration you throw their plugins at, they just work. And I wonder how they fit all the dependencies, graphics and code into just 3 MB ? And they don't have 100's of MB's of protection built into them too.
