I have 6 guitars and a bass I am looking to hang on walls. Solid and reliable looking hangers can be expensive and also sometimes still don't inspire confidence.

Anybody got any DIY guitar hangers they've made that are cheap and solid, or got any they could suggest?

 

There are lots of videos available and I'll just post the 1st I saw. The super important thing to remember when hanging any guitars on walls and especially hollow instruments such as acoustic guitars, mandolins, ukuleles and the like is...never hang them on a wall that has the outside on the other side as it will kill them. Such wisdom has been passed down generation to generation for hundreds of years. Now I gift this to you, young Padowan!

 

Not DIY, but these are solid and cheap :



They don't come with screws and anchors though, so you need to buy them seperately. But with big screws and good anchors, I feel like they will never fail. My local guitar shop hung all of their guitars with it and never had a problem. Here's how it looks on my wall :

The room is actually a basement room, so there shouldn't be an outside on any of the walls

These look quite compact and neat! They could be an option. Are the arms fixed or adjustable? And doesn't the lack of a 'claw' or lock scare you? I don't think I could relax if I hang my Manson MB-1 or my 72 Custom Deluxe Telecaster without a locking mechanism

Ah, good argument. It's in fact a bit scary, but guitar shops are using them here too. But I think there's also a fixed version.

 

Well my Manson sits securely on this, even with its thin headstock. Because of how it is designed, the weight of the guitar pulls the two supporting bits towards the center. So to take the guitar out, the only way is to lift it up completely. You can't pull it

not really DIY except you have DIY the mounting to your wall of choice.

They are about 8$ apiece if you buy the 3 packs..

because they are self locking based on the weight of the guitar closing the arms to lock the neck in place.
you have to lift the guitar up to unlock the hanger and then you can pull it forward.
