The poster asking about hardware has obviously already made that decision. You see the words "next synth" in the first post? What conclusions might you draw from those two words?

And Foster, I would never tell you to buy a hardware synth with keys; because on your next alias username you might scam me into listening to you try to play.

If you are thinking about the Boutique version, you'd check some users experience, as many of them complain about the size of the faders and so.

Generally true to say some of these guys are from the past and the music styles have changed now, but anyway, looking at their performances and what they do behind their instruments can enter into your decision and choices.

Unfortunately, having fashionable and trendy view of music, as it is in the world of clothes and clothing, gives the opposite result. Because the essence of music is different from the essence of clothes. Modish uses of these instruments have actually caused drastic changes in music productions.

Unless you are a live musician I would avoid any hardware synth at all - and external hardware gear in general. Why you ask? Because of the "total recall" benefit of using only software synths and effects. Open a 5 year old project in your DAW and it sounds exactly like it did back then

Nothing ages well like a 5 year old song that didn't sell any copies when it was new. You may be using an entirely different computer, OS, DAW in 5 years from now anyway; but who is digging out 5 year old songs? If you ever make something that you will need again in 5 years, you will know about it already and will back it up properly.

i had the blofeld, its not made for pop music, but its very versaitle and deep to program, plus the wavetables are amazing, you can do so much with them, its great for ambient, drone scapes, atmospheres ... an updated microQ basically with more of everything.
i sold it because i have the microQ emu, which might not be as new, and has less wavetables, but i never could it get to work with the Aura/mystery island editor, it was annoying.

i have the ultranova, which is just a mininova wtihout multitimbral and better physical hardware controls. I wouldnt buy the mininova, the controls are just stupid cramped into a submenus, you will end up, using the vst plugin anyway.

the deepmind 6 is just analgoue, mininova and blofeld can just do more and are cheaper.

my previous suggestion was just bad, btw there is the microkorg vst plugin.

i saw bad gears video about the boutique versions as i thought about JD 800 boutique version, the faders are so damn small, it makes no fun to have a hardware device just to have one, if the plugin version just is harder to control ...

can't believe you left out Leon Russell, Elton credits him with inspiring him to get in the music biz. Also Brian Wilson knows his way around a keyboard or two.

The 1st version of free bird was being played around 1970 it took the band 4 years to polish it up change it around, add lyrics and convince a record company to release the long ass song they finally wrote. It worked out for them.. some things take more time.. some less..

To know which of those suit you best you should probably tell us what synths you already own.
Without that knowledge I'd say the Behringer will give you the widest range of sounds, and I can also vouch for the great build quality of it. I'm personally not keen on the display but the others have much more basic displays.

I like the BLOFELD...it's probably something I'd just want to play by just the looks.

the blofeld was def a lot of fun to just play around - just create sounds and then delete them again by accident. :disco::unsure::woot:

I recommend Deepmind: it's analog, it's easy and has an excellent FX section, in my opinion the best Beringa synth, just avoid the 6 vers and go straight on to the 12

in this scenario I would go with the Blofeld. You can find a very good deal on one. This one is below $600, as an example. I would probably pick one of the other two if you are thinking about getting the little desktop unit. I just don't really like them. A keyboard on a rack even feels safer than a little synth on the desk. I have a Novation Nova Desktop and those can also go for just about $600, and aside from there being many more Blofelds to find, I would rather the Blofeld KB for the same price. If I wanted a Novation, I would get the Bass Station 2. If you can put up with only 25 keys, they are serious bang for the buck, and they do not just make bass of course. It will be a cold day in hell before I buy a Behringer for anything over about $200.

Respect your choice however, I wouldn't buy any of those, especially a Behringer synth. They lost me with the Prophet VS that sounds nothing like a Prophet VS (the Arturia Software emulation is way better as a former owner of a VS). I own a few of Behringer other products, not a hater. I did own a Waldorf microwave (with a programmer) and a Novation supernova at one point, both were great. More into tabletop synths nowadays as I prefer to have dedicated controllers. Just got a 1010 Lemondrop. WOW, now thats a serious bit of kit.
