Perhaps this is a stupid question, but I'm on a new machine and learning a new MacOS in Sonoma and coming from a long ways back on this... :

There used to be a freeware AU runner etc in which you could install legit plugins etc without your DAW being behind a firewall/little snitch/Lulu/ online etc...

I don't know if that still exists with Mac silicon chips...

I know Audacity can work fine for "audio" plugins, but not for instruments...

Anyone have any suggestions? Or am I thinking about this ass backwards (very possible, I'm sick and kinda stupid right now)...

    Thank you.

Unfortunalty never heard of that one, but I am interested in something like savihost on Windows. The Blue Cat plugins are good hosts for standalone plugins and can route them together, but they are not freeware.

Yeah, I think something like AU Host on MacOS will work hopefully... Blue Cat has had it's uses in the past for me, but I haven't used it in years... but yeah, just looking for a MacOS AU/VST host to login and update legit products while having a locked down system as well... and my previous to new Apple Silicon solutions are no longer available to me in that regard... so it goes! :)

(and I also realize you are talking about Windows and we are on other sides of the spectrum on that in needs, ((AND I am not talking about OS wars as I don't care, I just started with Mac's back in the early 90's and with Digidesign and whatnot and it not being a Windows thing at the time, just hitched my horse and haven't gotten off of it, I certainly am not an Apple fanboi, I'm just locked in at this point without a lot of fuss and muss if you get what I mean...)

    But thanks for chiming in...appreciated...

i got the audio software on Mac. I don't care about OS wars either and fanbois don't seem to be around here fortunately. I meant a program like savihost that can change the component into a executable, but on macOS would be neat. Well, maybe someone here knows that program you were asking about.

Yeah, I know you aren't looking for one for MacOS, but for anyone else stumbling on this thread and wondering a decent way to run keygens from R2R etc that are .exe's, the freeware "Whisky" works really well...

That's a great link, thank you. And it seems like AudioGridder seems like a winner (downloading now), as it supports Apple Silicon and is light...

    cheers!
