    I rarely use them.

Maybe only ever to get a rare tv show etc

But I just joined a forum, and their rules state not to upload any trackers.

What I am unsure of is this...... If I start a download, and I then add a list of trackers to it for when I am downloading it, is this classed as uploading the trackers as I am downloading?? Because I know others will be downloading from me at some stage. So are these trackers I've added, are they then added to the torrent?

Rules of this forum state to not upload torrents to other trackers.

So I'm guessing other trackers are other torrent sites??

Or by me adding a tracker list to a torrent that I am downloading from this site, these trackers I add are not somehow seen by this torrent site??

Probably the dumbest noob question on torrents you have seen here lol, but I am super green to torrents, and don't want to break any rules.

    Cheers Guys

the tracker is the server running the whole "site" content. the way you have phrased that "rule" is probably not accurate. it could mean a few different things, which is why it's probably more specific.

staying private helps most private sites continue to exist
not only will adding external trackers to a private torrent not help you much (the actual impact depends on settings within the torrent), it is against the principle of keeping things private
    just don't

My only reason for trying to add trackers was that the torrents said that there were 21 seeders, but I was not getting anything downloaded at all over a 24hr period.

But I solved the issue. Found out that my version of utorrent that I was using was banned from the group.

Got a new program and it works fine now.

Thanks to those who replied anyway.

    Cheers

With so many rare and old TV shows streaming online for free why bother, unless you really want to keep it.

and to verify the online world is filling up with midwits and lowits....
there is a lot of niche knowledge there and 4chan has a torrents channel as well..

yeah i wouldn't log in to reddit its a data mining conglomerate, glued to a bot system.

everything you stream takes the same bandwidth as saving and storing it. if you are going to burn the bandwidth, why not archive it. when the internet goes down, it might be handy to have some offline entertainment stored.. its how you build a media library...

depending on your location (country) you should be aware.
i had followed somebody`s comment here and found a bunch (lot) of games on the fitgirl site. sure enough after 4 months i got the letter from the lawyer and paid 600, reduced price. for 1 game. then a couple of months later another letter, 500 reduced price, still paying that off.
i`m sure the person here mentioned vpn, not sure how safe that is, but without it torrenting is clearly unsafe

yes a VPN is much cheaper, and advisable for many more reasons than just torrents.
its amazing when you change your vpn location to another country to see how news is reported in different countries..also EU privacy vs US privacy is unreal..
