Said no one who works on large apps. But it sounds good eh. Very much the sort of radical quote executives fire off before they tank an apps market share.

Your established user base actually pays the bills. Expansion should always be harmonious with your current user base. Boring, but that's the reality of stable growth.

Trash 2 was used by Noisia and many other skillful artists.
Do they really wanted to swap their actual users to the snowflake noobs?
That's why they downgraded it from something advanced and make it simple and protected like for kindergarten?
They really wanna their customers to be snowflake half-wits noobs?

 

Here's what I think happened:

Creative Lead Designer: "Okay, market analysis people, I have some questions. What is the main target audience for Trash 2? How can we expand our target audience?"

Market Analysis: "The main target audience and user base of Trash 2 is mainly sound designers and electronic music producers.
We could expand our target group by addressing more inexperienced users. There is great potential to acquire new customers here. However, they found Trash 2 too complex, so it would make sense to simplify it. A price reduction could also be considered."

Creative Lead Designer: "Well, simplification then... Then we trash 90% of the features and make the plugin more accessible for idiots."

They could make new product. Why to break good line?
They just could make Trash 3 for advanced users & Trash Lite for noobs and mobile.

It looks like Lite version of Minimal Audio Rift. It is like clumsy try of cloning Rift but make it more simple.

This one you really need first try using R2R or V.R version then test it for few weeks and only then consider buying it.

In my opinion better to wait for promo or Black Friday and grab Minimal Audio Rift 2.

 

You could just use combination of 6 free plugins and you will make your own Trash plugin:
Waveshaper + Tube Distortion + Multiband Compressor + Vocoder + Auto Filter + Limiter

Voilà You just saved 79 Dollars and I bet it will sound better. But be careful sky is the limit there. Noobs are not allowed LOL

Making the next version of a tool with a lot less features than the previous one... didn't expect that Capitalism, you will never cease to amaze me!

 

There is even no High Pass Filter. There is only Low Pass Filter. Nothing more! No other options!

Here is Trash 2 Filters Section:

 

I was excited by the fact that Izotope are doing a version 3 of Trash, but after watching quite a few review videos, what features it has, what it's missing, I think I'm going to give this a miss and stick with what I know. It doesn't look like it brings anything new to the table, which is shame, but there are better VSTs out there.

 

If you used Shaperbox 3 and Filtershaper XL, you could probably cover all of it with about 3 plugins. It crashes on High Sierra, demo or k'd; but I don't think I'll be missing much. I barely use v2 as it is. The GUI update to something closer to Neutron is not a bad idea to get a more consistent look, if they care about that. Otherwise it's just a cash grab. Like they are the only ones...

 

Kilohearts Multipass is the right platform to simulate Trash 3

 

And that is the thing. You can easily do something better than this seems to offer with a few plugins if you know what you're doing.

As I said, this doesn't bring anything new to the table.

I have all the above distortion plug ins and they are good but they are not Trash 2. It's special. Replicating it must be a right pain, because no else has managed it. Not even Izotope.
