Also, off topic, but I just watched The Crow again after so long and that scene, after he realizes his powers and is running along rooftops and swinging and using the crow to scan ahead of him to map. Then he swan dives into a dumpster and before he kills Tin Tin (symbolic, because that dude was the one that first drew blood), he sees the dude's memories in flashbacks.

Assassin's Creed devs were so inspired by this. It's 18 mins into the film.

I disagree based on two anecdotal evidences :

1- My wife doesn't dream, or doesn't remember when she does. And she's been through a lot, as she is, you know, MY wife. She's not Kierkegaard, but there are still periods of intense questioning.

2- I have a pretty exceptional memory. I'm nothing compared to those freaks who can tell you how many ice cubes the truck driver in the next booth had in his Jack&Coke on that 04/16/72 morning (answer : 3), but people who know me have always been impressed with my seemingly superhuman memory.

And I remember dreams, going back to childhood, sometimes VERY vividly. Sometimes I'll be riding my bike and the way sunlight hits a certain tree and its leaves will give me a familiar feeling and before I know it I'll remember a dream I had when I was 13.

I'll gladly admit that depression, anxiety and other funny stuff have been part of my life for most of my life. But I've also known periods of stability, inner peace etc. I've never stopped dreaming during those times.

I'll also say that there's a roughly 50/50 ratio between "working through issues" dreams and "Salvador Dali is a noob" dreams. Sometimes I'll dream about stuff that is so poignant in relation to my inner turmoil, it's like watching (and being in) a horror movie about my life. Other times it's really weird, oftentimes hilarious shit. The other day I dreamed of my girlfriend making a joke, and felt "man, I wish I'd made that joke". Then I woke up and thought "hey, it was a dream, so it must be MY joke!"

The joke was "earth is clothing for worms"
