Up until recently I have only listened to Fish era Marillion, and didn't warm to the Hogarth era (Ok I only tried a few songs). I blatantly disregarded anything after Fish left because, to me, it wasn't Marillion.

I then realised I listened to Marillion for the lyrics and Steve Rothery's guitar work so I'm ears deep in the Rothery releases and quite enjoying them.

 

Hogarth is an absolutely amazing singer, who soared to great heights especially on the fist few post-Fish albums. Fish is a once in a lifetime entertainer. My favourite era is when Seasons End and Vigil were released at the same time, it felt like win-win at the time. I must admit my interest in both waned a little later on. By the way, your poll lists Fish and Rothery as singers. I don't think Rothery will get many votes .

Nostalgia for the Fish era stuff (esp Misplaced Childhood and Clutching At Straws), but I really like the first set of Hogarth albums, after that I haven't followed along as much, despite owning a few of the more modern ones...

I think they did become a better band through the Hogarth era, and he has a much wider emotional vocal range than Fish did - although Fish was a good frontman in his time.
