i really like 90s acid, on the hard trance/techno side.
the high pitched hat/noise is very annoying. the levels are a bit weird and there's 0 modulation, or playing with knobs. ok yeah there is some but the modulation is what all these tracks should be about. i don't like the sample nor the name.
but ok nice try, good job :=)

It was quickly made for the Men's Day in 3 hours. More like kind of a meme than serious project.
Yeah. It's like unfinished. It needs work. It is like on 2/3 of the road.
Indeed it needs more modulation, more transitions, more breaks from the synth.
But it's hard to do for me. Also project in Ableton with those automations is hard to edit.
I need to work on arrangement and improve my arranging.
I always have problem with some things used too much or too boring or annoying like same synth for the whole track.
I thought this hi-hat is ok. I doesn't had any better idea how to support lead when kick go off.
Maybe pattern should be different or there should be few patterns with variations.

that's funny, when i switched from fl studio to ableton, the automations were the best improvements for me.
the problem here is that those tracks were made by switching knobs in real time... it was just a better way to do things. do u have a midi controller? i have a very cheap keyboard with some knobs that i use for stuff like this. it's very useful. sometimes i even draw in paint all the 8 knobs and their parameters if it's a track that requires a longer time.
also, some tracks are supposed to be repetitive/"annoying" i guess. check josh wink's don't laugh, plank's acid wars, or anything that came from europe around that time labelled as techno and acid (hard trance variations were usually more melodic). i'm no expert and i'm not judging your track but i liked the acid pattern and i would love to hear better drums and more tweakin'

You can judge me and write anything you want.
I just posted it for this and to learn new things from it.
I have midi controllers. Behringer BCR2000 or Akai MPK Mini.

    Inspiration for this track was:

Acid Warrior - 303 In The City
"People Are Still Having Sex" from 1:06

Edge Of Motion - Set Up 707

    MPIA3 - Acid Badger

A home? Which home, whose home and who's home as a witness? Without pictures it didn't happen.

As for the music I had to turn it down as it physically hurt my ears. No offense, but it is ripping my eardrums apart.

that's good, but consider also this that you said:
i know it's hard to finish tracks but if i can give one advice is force yourself to "finish", to "close" a project. don't get too attached to the idea: you run out of steam and you let the idea slip away. don't "revisit" a track shortly after you posted it or you thought it was finished. if that's the case then it wasn't finished in the first place. there's always time to do a "2024 remix" later, right?
you're already aware of this but try to do some **active listening** of the tracks you were inspired by. check frequency spectrum: how is it filled? how does the track change over time? do i find x part boring? why do i find x part cool and enjoyable? how many layers of sounds can i hear? and how many are actually there? do i hear any effects? how did they do this back in the 90s? how can this be replicated today? does it sound different on headphones/mono/speakers? then try to "copy" everything and make it your own, so you start to have an idea of what works and what doesn't in a specific kind of situation, track, and feel

this was enjoyable, though i do agree with backtired that it needs more cutoff modulation.

Unfortunately pattern particularly in this one gived weird and not satysfying for me combination of Cutoff + Resonance.
I like agressive squelching as the cutoff increases but this one doesn't give it. Mainly that's why I avoided modulation in this one.
Most of my patterns are great for cutoff but few like this one are hard to work with and I don't like what cutoff brings me.
