Someone hoards it, somewhere. This is my steadfast belief.

Just sad....how some programs simply vanish from this planet. Is it Google/SearchEngines censoring everything and archive.org being scorched like with bleachbit? I cant believe no one's really caring about this, or maybe since A.I. is here now there's no point anymore...

For Emulation/Roms there are at least some huge Projects+Torrents to keep it all preserved, compare this to old plugins of long defunct companies there is seldomly such thing like EMU-X3 becoming available, whereas Steinberg seems to leave all customers of their now defunct elicenser out dying in the cold, instead of either allowing as a final move to switch dongle licenses back to software elicenser (and thereby at least granting ongoing usage independent of a potentially failing usb dongle) or simply releasing eternal keys for all their non-ported software. I assume all those "rented" cloud based software models will turn out even worse longterm when servers go out of existence in a similar fashion. Just hating these "forced obsolecenses" in an area where potentially none is ever needed to happen. :(

Freeware programs, no matter how good they may be; are not archived to preserve them. The reason a cracked version might be kept around way past it's usefulness is to archive the work of the team or cracker. And of course, with the nature of companies that give away free plugins, insolvency and disappearing websites; no-one will have any idea what will become a "cult classic" some time down the road. The only solution to that would be to archive all of it. That's probably not going to happen, because the signal to noise ratio would go through the floor as people become flooded by freeware.

Hello everyone, this will be my first post. First of all, I really appreciate, that there is a thread like this... And moreover, even more that things like this happen here! I got stuck somewhere in my old projects on an old pc... And I have so much stuff I want to restore!

I'm going to send now a pm to ElecTribe!

And I would like to share my respect and express gratitude for this and for the forum! Big ups!
