@ArticStorm has a point with the compartmentalizing because there are things in 12 that won't load in 11 but I did it to save space and it works fine so far

My first impression of new browser was What a shit! but after some time of using it and arranging, found it very useful. Possible to create any tags and also subtags. Now I don't understand people who complain on 7 colour collections, they are useless now. The only problem organising takes time.

the collections are not useless, if done well you can collect favourites - samples, MIDI stuff, whatever you want, its quicker if you limit it on a small amount, while for the browser you have to click stuff. You can also hide the collections, see first post from me.

the organizing is fine, but what i dont like is that you can get your folder structure back, you always have to click some tag or scroll a very long list. But this comes down to how many items you have in those lists.

if i could i would want the Live 11 browser in Live 12. But i will get used to ignoring the "filters".

did anybody find any other new features or tips and tricks?

yeah if you have a lot of stuff in the user library, then its maybe not to great. I have only presets in mine, deleted samples i dont need, so its down to 100MB per instance.

I felt like Ableton took a giant piss in my cornflakes when they ignored my folder structure. But I'm growing to like the tags a lot, my only problem is I have two machines to replicate this on. I might like it a lot more once I'm finished

That thought did cross my mind, but I have a different workflow on my laptop (plus different plugins) than my desktop

Is there a way to hide plugins from search results or to only show the preferred format only for specific terms? For instance, i want to only see Pro-Q3 as VST3 in search, but I don't want to delete the audio unit or component cause somebody might send me a project with those formats used.

you can select VST2, VST3 and AU as formats i think.

Maybe the tags are saved separate, havnt looked into it so far.

could try that with a new setup User Library or preferences.

    Agree ,
Personally ive added a bunch of categories such as "Synthesiserz,Drum Mechs,Distortion,Reverb,Glitch Tools, Compressors, delays, limiters, clippers" etc etc etc
And now have all my plugins arranged within those categories by my goto,s and not by plugin manufacturer which is easy as pie and has simplified what the ableton boffins did with live 12,s new browser to the degree whereby i now actually work faster,
And by structuring it this way ive now all vst2 and vst3 goto plugins stacked up within the folders that i added editing the browser, and not by plugin manufacturer which for me personally makes things so much easier, i see what abl guys tried to do with the browser and at first i absolutley hated it!!
But after i edited it all, " which is a little tedious but doesnt take long" i now see the benefits

Yes this is what I was trying to say, sorry my English isn't the best. I don't know how it should be any faster then one click to open the folder.

Why do people say this is slower then Ableton 11 workflow? How did you do it with less then one click in 11? If you're a keyboard person live 12 will be great because of the better search function and if you're a mouse person.. it doesn't get better then one click to open the category of plugins/content you're looking for. Of course you have to set it up, Ableton can't know how you want them categories, if you prefer vst3, vst3 or au, racks and so on, takes 5 minutes.

//At first I was also pissed because I still had this idea in my head that everything should be strictly sorted by company name. But why though? If I need a delay I want to see my 5 or 6 delays. If I want my brainfuck2000 plugins I want to see them immediately, without going through a million different folders. If I want to have them by company name, I can also set it up that way. The new browser offers many different ways for different workflows, it's not that fixed any more to just one way mainly.

I think investing money in another "classification thing" is stupid for the company. Collection is limited to 7 and the VST plugin folder even with the device brand name it's not finding all the sources I have some are missing for any reason!
It simply sucks to the point I had to subscribe another 10$ subscription to LoopCloud just to use the plugin manager. Thinking just about the MediaBay in Cubase is way more enjoyable

Is there anyone having this in Ableton 12?

You play stop, and the sound still reverberates, you have to press stop twice to stop like Live 11.

    How can you change this?
