The plugin seems to confuse when it needs to "operate" and not...

because when i click to hear a sample within the plugin nothing happens and afterwards when i click somewhere else in the reaper window all of a sudden i hear that sample...its like all of a sudden it starts functioning only when i click somewhere else in the reaper window

i think it has something to do with what has control or not..i am not sure how to fix it

Bridged plugins are running in a separate process. Therefore anything you're doing in the plugin doesn't affect Reaper because Reaper's running in the background then. Annoying but normal behaviour.

oh this is what worked in my case - u right click on the plugin name before adding it and select Run as - Embed Bridged UI

now it seems to be working properly!

Right, this is possible but has also disadvantages. It doesn't work with all plugins and is less stable, but as long as it works, it works.

The problem I sometimes have with bridged plugs in Reaper is that the GUI doesn't refresh unless I open and close the window. I can move the parameters but the parameter in the GUI won't move. The hacky way around this has been to use jBridge instead and enable the option 'Force GUI refresh'. It works but very sluggish.

Edit: MacOS High Sierra, Reaper 7 (same thing happened on prior versions tho)

Wat is the 32bit plugin in ? here.

Right click on the plugin or click the FX on top left of the menu bar in fx window, and check/tick "send all keyboard input to plugin" this is of course plugin specific, iow has to checked for individual plugins.

REAPER can use AU format plugins like Logic. Use Hexwars 32Lives and Resurrect your 32bit plugins. It will create "wrapped" 64bit AU plugins and they will work. including Sonnox Oxford, Sylenth, Lexicon, Soundtoys, etc. Way better than Jbridge on HS for me, especially because I only keep AU format plugins for Logic.

Guys, I have a question. The plugin in question is General Vibe VectorSector from the sister-site.

CPU increases when adjusting parameters, but not while playing.
I guess it has to do with the bridging? It is the only x86 plugin where this happens.
As a matter of fact, newer, more CPU intensive plugins consume far less.

I'm using REAPER's built in bridge.

    Thank you.

The plugin is very old and no longer available - as a result, it is not adapted to modern requirements and x86 via bridge brings additional losses.
I would install an old 32-bit DAW and test it there.

" VectorSector is highly reputed from some maniacs but never released for more than 15 years. "

I tested it in old 32 bit DAW and it works perfectly, picture attached!
    Presonus - Studio One 2 Professional v2.6.5 build 30360 - 32 Bit

Thank you. I was just curious, because bridged NI FM7 doesn't use a third as much of CPU...
Likewise for Zebra2 and other mothern synths...

    Again, thank you!

EDIT: Running it as a separate process slightly helps....

There are good programmers and not so good programmers...Or bad Sound Designer!
A preset Vexurian consumes 31%, so you can, for example, reduce the number of voices.
    Polyphony / Voices = 8 (31 %) Reduce to 4 Voices (12% CPU)

My man, sincerely, thank you for taking the time!

Yeah, it's about the same over here. Polyphony doesn't really cause much of a CPU spike, just the tweaking of the parameters.
But like you've said - it's old and poorly optimized.

You could try out the Arturia Prophet VS, it is based on the same hardware synth. Maybe you can get the sounds you want this way, is is a modern plugin and still updated.

    Thank you. :)

Tried it, and didn't quite cut it for me.

There is also Augur, an older x86 emulation, which is better optimized and sounds surprisingly good, but misses key features like Unison and Glide....

VectorSector was done by the guy who worked on the Prophet VS.
I saw Don Solaris on a forum writing how it was the closest emulation to date, but unfortunately it is unusable in this form.

Personally, I find Augur to have the upper edge sound-wise, but it is crippled by the missing controls...

EDIT: After much trial and error, it turns out that MIDI CC doesn't cause any of the problems that arise from GUI tweaking.

    Just tried it.
On my pretty outdated machine (WiN7, Reaper6.78) a single voice takes ~ 0.4% and increased by ~ 50% while tweaking in GUI.
    Unisono needs ~1%.
All in all pretty nice to the CPU, compared to other synths, IMHO.

Yeah man, after a bit of a workaround, it's pretty solid now within REAPER. Minimal CPU even when tweaking GUI.
However, reaper_host32 jumps in Task Manager, and still, only while tweaking the GUI. Only with this bridged plugin.
