I've always found this subject fascinating. Personally I don't know about Plogue but synths like Diva and Omnisphere have tuning options or places you could load your own tuning file.

Cat, what in particular fascinates you about microtonality?

The fact that we experience music so differently based on where we grew up.

A great introduction would be to give a listen to Wendy Carlos' Beauty in the Beast. Alternate tunings can give you some wild harmonics. I think the first synth I had to offer it ws the TX-81Z. Hard to find Wendy's work on the net as she has most everything removed and I don't have time to search but here is the home page for the re-release:

Microtonal scales need to be implemented INSIDE the generator.

I tried EVERY way in the whole world to use plugins without microtonal support...it never works.
    Because they use pitch bend...

Pitch bend is monophonic, limited values.
It means it is not precise enough.
It means you can only play one single note a time.
And to finalize, Note on/off MIDI messages create troubles with pitch bend...an horror show.

So the answer is simple :
-create your own synth with microtonal scales support inside Bidule or whatever.
-use plugins with INCLUDED microtonal support (Scala/TUN loader). To name a few, all Papen/Linplug do that.
Here is what you are searching...if you don't want to build your own synth with Bidule
    Scala/TUN

Frankly, i stopped years ago to try using non-microtonal synths for this task. Trust me, you will just loose your time
Use already made synths, they work wonder and you can get any sort of synthesis (FM, subtract, sampler...).

Forget about using any plugin with a "magical" microtonal patch, you will be disappointed...and you probably already own one plugin doing it natively but don't know it because it is hidden :mates:

    hello, alswefi,

just one (outside plogue bidule, as there is already the perfect write-up above) solution, perhaps for added supporting possibilities... *yes*

http://hgsounds.com/product/scala-creator-vsti/ homegrown sounds scala creator (costs about twenty euros or so) *yes*

wish you the most beautiful microtonalities, plus all the best...

    Nice posts !

The xenharmonic list is far from being complete...not even Rob Papen synths.
Check my previous KVR Scala/TUN post for a more complete one.

Check Scala website and download at least one Rob Papen synth to get those files already converted to TUN format

if u put a pair of any synth. in plogue bidule
make the second one with a pitch bend -50 cents
and add a note splitter to send the neaded notes to the second
thus can help to play microtonal scales

Microtonal world is far from being this limited, there are so many scales you would need 4,5... synths to cover the whole pitched range.
Try to make Indian music with several pitched synths and you will see how many you need
With several synths playing at the same time, you get strange polyphony artifacts.
    CPU/RAM(if sampler/rompler) charge
    ...and more pain.
    For what ?

But you can make your own experience if you still want to loose your time and energy...like me trying to convince you to not do it

When you will realize, like i've done years ago, that those workarounds sucks big time, you will use microphonic synths like me and thousands ppl loving microtonal music.

PS : i'm french with no cultural link to microtonal music. I just want to get out that 440Hz international tempered scale bullsh*t
