    This is why:

Do you think deleting most of your plugins will help make you a more efficient and effective audio engineer? Or do you think this will hold you back from obtaining the results you want?

This guy is off-topic most of the time in his own video. 1min intro, ~ 2:30min content referring to the title, 8:30min what he's using.

Additionally, which plugins, i.e. how many different plugins I'm using, is not directly related to the number of installed plugins.

So, title of the thread is also misleading, it should read 'why this guy deleted 80% of his plugins'.

This. I'm not bothering with plugins i don't use even if they are already installed and i don't mess with them (anymore or now) because i already got my go-to tools. I just uninstall if i think the plugin is completly crap and there's no way i can use that ever on my life. If i like it in some way, i keep it, even if i don't use at that moment, because it can replace one that i'm using at some time (or not).

My best solution is buying the plugins i know i will really use, that helps me to not think about others of the same category or keep DL and trying the same stuff under the wing of other brand.

I hate people who say, "With that being said . . ." or any variation thereof. I'm also tired of enduring YouTuber Presentational Personality Disorder. And I can't stand when, after having adjusted the volume of my playback to accommodate the level of the speech at first, being blasted with the bumper/logo music.

I just couldn't get myself to fully commit to this so, as a compromise, I have deleted 80% of each of my plugins.

"You Should Delete 80% Of Your Plugins"

What if we come to a compromise, and I delete 80% of YOUR plug-ins?

    My solution is like yours.
I bought the DAW (with the full stock plugins), the 3rd party plugins I'm using, and got a lot of free plugins with the gear I bought through the years.

When I need a new midi controller or Synth, the bundle software is very, very important to make my decision

It's all good in theory until you have to open an old session, somebody else's session, or just trying to replicate a cool trick you learnt and you can't because you deleted all that shit.

If your DAW allows it and it's really an issue for you, it's better to just create personalized plugins lists imo, like "favourites" or something like that, and stick to that list until you need something else.

This guy is Psychotic, I feel bad for him. I especially created an account on AudioSex to post this message. Anyway I should have a long time back. He has a good message in that we have to know our tools well. But I feel that he's locking himself in a corner. Maybe he'll loose it oneday and fill he's daw folders with 1000's of plugins again one day without realizing it. ha aha ha ha ha ha ha.

ah yes... the hoarding minimalist who knows how to use the tools, but doesn't use most of the tools, because he doesn't know how to use most of the tools properly...

Maybe the beverage at the beginning is the true source of the anxiety?

I've deleted 80% of my music because I didn't like how it made my plugins sound.

you should only have your most favorite plugins.. its true but it holds you back, instead of producing you are adjusting and mixing and mixing over again and the results are too much work

    LESS is MORE!

The result I want is to get work done when I need to get it done, but also to just play in a big sandbox full of toys when I don't need to get things 'done'. The two things enrich each other and I really feel like people should try to stop worrying about this stuff - it's crazy. It's easy enough to make your goto tools more immediately accessible than 'the cupboard full of tools that you don't need RIGHT NOW' .. most DAWs have plenty of scope to organise your life that way.

I just don't see it as a problem.

Maybe a more pressing problem is to come up with content for your vacuous youtube channel.
