This is a totally accurate and true assessment about the Ravenscroft . . . I agree 100%.
The NI Grandeur is not often talked about, but it is a really, really good sounding sample library too.

While I've tried many piano vsti's, I still seem to prefer the sound of Kontakt's "The giant" with the tone knob completely on 'soft'. My second in line is "The Grandeur", also a kontakt one which is also mentioned by the previous commenter Sniv

Kawai Ex Pro is still my go-to piano. I use the old Kontakt library to this day.

Under 4 gigs is Native Instruments The Gentleman KONTAKT. It's been around since around 2013. It is a warm upright and is yummy. If I ever get my Kontakt working again after foolishly trying to upgrade I'd love to tinkle it's ivories again.

VI Ravenscroft 275. The sound is stunning but even more so it's responsiveness. It's just such a joy to play. It's footprint is 5,74GB

So.. I was looking for a good Piano that will run natively on Linux,
and heck I just found out about this Salamander Piano

It was linked here before but escaped my radar,
    but boy.. it's quite Impressive!

In terms of Tone, I would rank it with the Best libraries out there..
and to me that means Piano in Blue, Ravenscroft, Noire..

Ofc, it's less Refined, and not as sophisticated..
it does not have all the extra features and deep tweaking that Noire or Ravenscroft offer..

But the quality of the Timbre/Tone it's really up there.

From those three, I think it would be closer to Ravenscroft because it's very Clean, (just with a bit more color..)
and it's got 16 dynamic layers..

Noire being a Yamaha is also close, but sounds warmer to me.

Surely not the best library ever, but the small version being 400MB.. you can't beat that!

Been running it in Debian with Reaper and Carla as a sfz sampler,
then ReaJJ EQ, Presswerk comp, and TAL Reverb, all native..

Turns out Orchestools made a Loader/Rompler plug for Salamander Piano,
    Orchestools Piano S:
    https://musictop69.wixsite.com/orchestools

It's basically a wrapper for Salamander Piano, (same samples),
but with integrated functions/effects and a collection of presets.

Basic functions like: Tone/Release/Noise fader controls,
EQ, Comp and Reverb of many types..

-Carla is working fine here, and I already prepared the instrument, so I'm gonna keep using that,
but yeah.. couldn't be happier with it!

It's not Piano in Blue or Ravenscroft,
but I can Practice Piano with this just as Good natively in Linux,
without missing all that much of the Refinement kontakt libraries can bring..

A real Pianist will surely benefit from Ravenscroft depth/finesse,
but yeah I'm not there yet

Lovely blend between ROMpler and realism, thanks for letting us know.
Yeah I too think it's worth the disk space
