I too mostly stopped watching films at this point. It's gotten so hard to find something worth watching, especially last couple of years. I occasionally find something, and if I can't and I'm in a mood for a film, I'll just rewatch something older on sites I can't mention here. It still feels weird as I used to watch at least a couple of films weekly for decades. Even some B films used to make some sense.

I have a lot of films stored on a NAS and I can watch them with some player like MPV or Kodi. Kodi is cool as it feels like watching TV and I use a joystick as a remote.

Me too (Oh God what a figure of speech )
I didn't trust Netflix and Spotify from the beginning (was too good to be true) and therefore downloaded movies/music from them and streamed from NAS with Kodi. Now that they show their true colors (and I think there's more to come), I'm glad I didn't delete anything.

 

I thought it was just me that found pretty much everything coming out of hollyweird after 2015/2020 being mostly just pure junk or simply rip offs or "reboots" of older ideas that were successful 10 or 20+ years ago. There's a scant few things that I find even worth spending the time to DL. There's absolutely NO originality or connection with reality in hollyweird anymore. Apparently they think everyone just owes them big bucks when they shit out the next fake piece of film (video) garbage. WRONG. If by some miraculous fart of fate something truly original comes out I'll just torrent it.

Side note;
About those disclaimers (which I find very humorous by the way) they have been putting at the ends of distribution media (i.e. blurays) that talks about "how thousands of hours of work by countless individuals went into making their latest piece of bullshit" in order to guilt you into not ripping the video.... I'll have you know that "those countless individuals" are paid by the hour just like everyone else working a regular 9-5 job... The only ones who maybe don't get paid (as much) are the rich asshole fat cat investors putting up the production cash to make the thing in the first place. The only reason they do invest is because they need a tax shelter or they ran out of offshore bank accounts to funnel their trillion$...

However, there is a good remedy for this shit. Read books again, and you are your own director. Since I've been reading books for ages and never throw any away, I can now use my deteriorating memory to my advantage and re-read older books. ingenious

At one point I had 4 streaming services, amounting to 60$/ month, now Im using a 2018 Mac mini as a Plex server with 8TB. Torrenting movies, shows, and music (soulseek). Im fortunate to have 1gbps upload with fiber so I am my own streaming network.

 

Never heard of that before. Sounds like eDonkey updated for 2024. How is it working for you?

Soulseek is probably the best thing for music download, always found everything, even super rare stuff and many times even flacs

Soulseek is great, its basically a potluck of music - people bring what they got, I have about 15000 songs now, mostly the discographies of artists I like.
through Plex and Plexamp app, the experience is 95% as flawless as spotify.

 

netflix and disney both support pedophilia.. i usually torrent and the only service i pay is marvel comics and crunchyroll.. i mostly get everything for free with my hacked/modded firestick or i use fmovieszDOTto and mangafireDOTto/

i use friends/family netflix/prime etc..

 

i have every major one, just cause on tour its easier. Shudder is my shit tho
