Funny thing, in Spanish people call it "secuenciador de audio", audio sequencer, o "secuenciador de sonido", sound sequencer.

EDIT: A dive on the Web is also giving me "secuenciadores musicales."

EDIT 2: I gotta admit that in a lot of YouTube videos, Spanish speakers go with "daw" as a word.

Enunciation: - It's an abbreviation as everyone knows. I have heard it pronounced many ways, Dow and Door and more... Me I lean towards 'door'. It's also appropriate considering what a Digital Audio Workstation does. The vowel sounds and accents of each language have a lot to do with variances.

You're not old. Say that when you're in your 80s. I am older than you and 50s is mid-life by today's standards. :)

əm... hæv juː ˈnɛvə hɜːd ɒv fəʊˈnɛtɪks?
Um... have you never heard of phonetics?

Should I have put it in [ˈbrækɪts] or in /ˈslæʃɪz/?

True, but I think makes a bit of sense. If you're going to use the easy way yo might as well do it with other languages.
It's be interesting to know how people (without high-level spoken English) pronounce it in France, Germany,...

I just saw an article about abbreviations. In general there are two different forms. One is when it is pronounced like a word as in NATO or the other one is when you say the different letters as in US. With DAW both is possible, so there are at least two valid options, even before it comes down to how to pronounce the word DAW.

we called computer programs on the computer a "sequencer" because they did exactly the same thing as the hardware Midi sequencers we had been using for years. being able to record and edit quality audio into the computer was a big advance in technology.

The next thing like that was Time Compression and Expansion. The term "timestretching" became the colloquial way of saying that so people could understand something occupying a different length but maintaining the same pitch. You might as well have been explaining Bullet Time in the Matrix to some people. I say acronyms as phonetic words when possible. Most of the time, they create the terminology name of something so that it may be converted into a "word"; especially in Military uses. I really only use the term DAW when I do not know what someone is actually using, or in an example. I use the term "DAW" in reference to the computer that software is running on. Not the application. A "workstation" is the unit itself, not the code it is running; which is why there are "workstation" synthesizer/keyboards.

Someone who spells out acronyms verbally is usually new at whatever. They haven't gotten sick of saying it long form yet.

DAW is indeed the most ambiguous equivalent of sequencer. Because of the "Workstation" component.
    I did it quickly. But I'm a professional lazy-ass, so ...

Some people might use the German pronunciation for spelling letters but most people use the English pronunciation in Germany.

Just to be clear. I was agreeing with ya in that the Atari ST was a great Sequencer, not that you were old :O

In English it depends who I'm talking to, someone I don't know I spell it out at first, but normally it's "duaww". [dɔː], kinda in phonetics.

In my native Finnish we call it [sekkɑri], gotta love phonetic languages. Obviously mutilated from "sequencer".
