From what I understand, teams such as R2R typically have no official sites or central place where they post their releases. How do news sites like the sister site, etc. verify that an R2R release is actually from team R2R and not from a bad actor claiming to be R2R? Where do the news site admins source their files from?

 

I've lost count of the releases i've snagged from the sister site over the years and have never had any issues whatsoever, other than the occasional time-bomb that a team may have overlooked when patching/cracking.

The fine folk who place releases here enjoy long-term relationships with the teams and nobody (i.e. the teams or the uploaders) rightly see no benefit in trashing their well-earned reputations after all this time. And of course, were a release to be actually compromised with malware, it would be flagged by either site mods or eagle-eyed users.

So relax, you've come to the right place for reliable, quality releases from the best audio-software liberators on the planet!

I have been downloading from the sister site for about ten years, whether it's from R2R or any other team. In general, I prefer R2R not because I suspect the other teams, but more out of a sense of 'tradition' or 'preference.' However, all the teams are reliable. I have never downloaded anything from the sister site that has caused harm to my PC. Well, except for one time when there was a text file (.txt) that said 'DO NOT OPEN,' and I opened it anyway, and the whole building where I lived exploded. But that was only that one time. So, as others have already told you, you can rest assured.

 

My doctor prescribes me a daily vaccine of R2R download every day. They are safe and effective and I am healthier for it.

 

I guess R2R could sign all of their releases, the one that's needed for the cracks anyway, with their private key. To some extent they do, namely that you need the key to use k'd software.

 

I think it should be standard practice for all crack teams to include PGP signed messages with file hashes.
