Compressors etc. itself are not the issue. The issue is developers.
How we supposed to use vst compressors correctly if Developers are scamming us?
We using compressors with wrong values!
We believe in bullshits which developer promises us!
And those bullshits are not from small developers those are from the biggest ones!

I recommend to watch the whole video. You will not regret!

    "Herezz another exzâmpple"

i saw earlier this week his review at the end of the video about acustica's nickel. crazy comp.

not sure if i would call these actually "mistakes" more like deceptive features.
i'd certainly get pissed if i bought some of those

also it helps to understand why you have to dial in different settings on the same hardware emulation when comparing brands.

They definitely give incorrect or overstated information in their marketing. They often play with numbers that do not actually apply. Usually they are just trying to make their product look better, but it's not always a deliberate scam.

Hanlon's razor is an adage or rule of thumb that states:

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
It is a philosophical razor that suggests a way of eliminating unlikely explanations for human behavior. It is probably named after Robert J. Hanlon, who submitted the statement to Murphy's Law Book Two (1980).[1] Similar statements have been recorded since at least the 18th century.

    I never listened.
I couldn't get past her affected way of speaking.
    All her consonants are gone.
It's like some sort of twisted ASMR torture.

    Don't blame the tools.
    Blame the users
    Compressors don't kill. PEOPLE kill.

Exactly. By using your ears, and to a lesser extent your eyes (for spectral/waveform monitoring) the tools are at the beck and call of the "engineer" not the other way around...

Maybe it's me, but to me it kinda sounds like on the kate bush song the pitch of the singer does not really match the rest of the music played. At least, something seems off to me. I can clearly hear It's AI singing. A better AI singer that sounds more real would be using Dreamtonics rather than this

, the issue sits behind the keyboard.

, only if you dialed them in.

   , I don't.

What price are people willing to pay just to physically outvote others!
-4 LUFS is is precisely where you experience the most loss of dynamic range and a lack of natural dynamics in the audio, listener fatigue and artificial sound introducing artifacts and distortions, making the sound 'squashed.' There's limited headroom left for peaks or transients, which leads to clipping or distortion.

    Good point!!
Nowadays, compressors are used in 90% of cases to correct the bad perfomances of instrument players and singers ... that is not the purpose for which compressors were built. Learn to touch well, learn to sing properly and in tune. Less plugins ... more risk, more originality, more art
