    Hello,
Is there a way to install a new Live 12 Beta over an older Live 12 Beta Version?
Or must i deinstall and reinstall it?
I ask because when i deinstall and install new all my Settings are gone and i must set all new.
Or is there a Solution to install new Live 12 Beta and put my Settings from the old Beta Version in it?

    Thanks [IMG]

you just overwrite it and all should be good. Even if you save it to a different folder. You may or may not need to reauthorize it, but that shouldn't affect the settings.

I uninstall and reinstall from Windows Control Panel every time and my settings stick. My Live 12 Beta copied all the settings from 11. How are you uninstalling?

settings are saved for every version of Live you run in separate folders, old settings will be copied when you run a new version.

for example you have used 12.00b25, then the settings are saved in new folder named 12.00b27.

Settings in 12.00b25 will stay unless you delete them.

No need to use any voodoo uninstaller software by XYX :D

OK this is exactly your problem. Revo is wiping out the folders ArticStorm is talking about. Dont use revo when uninstalling Ableton and your settings will stay.

    There are 2 folders:

    - Ableton/Program folder, with all the stuff Ableton needs to run
    - Somewhere in AppData there is a Ableton Folder with version-folders, those hold the settings. If you uninstall via Ableton Uninstaller, these folders will stay, they hold settings, license info, databases and old projects, etc.

If you come with Revo and some stuff, those folders will get deleted.

If you want to install or delete Ableton, delete the Program folder only. (Install entries can be deleted manual.)

You can also also unpack the Setup exe with UniExtract and then the setup with lessmsi - copy the setup packs next to the msi and open in lessmsi and then unpack everything.

Your installation (unless you override paths etc. but then you'd know what you're looking for already) will live (!) in 4 key locations:

The static program binaries, this will be overwritten when upgrading within the same major version (suite 11.1 to suite 11.2 for example):
C:\ProgramData\Ableton\<live version>\ , where version is "Live 11 Suite", "Live 11 Lite", "Live 12 Beta" etc. (these can live side by side)

The program settings per user and per version: preferences, usage history like recently opened files etc. and unlock information
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\<version>, username is your username, of course and version is the exact version number like "Live 11.3.13" or "Live 12.0b26".

Keep the ones you are using, like "Live 11.3.13", and the one you'll be upgrading from, like "Live 12.0b26" when installing beta 27.

The library and decoding cache lives in:
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Ableton\
This is shared between all versions installed. This can be wiped if you run into problems with the indexer or sharing the library with several Ableton installs.

Default path for installed packages and projects:
    C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Ableton\
All versions have the library/packages here. You will want to back this up regularly (or whatever path you set it to).
