You just need two things, the R2R Acustica Framework release and the JAM release itself.

 

That is it's intention, successful or not. I would just assume without doing anything to mitigate that, it's out to screw you the very first chance it gets.

What about a different user setup? On mac you could also do this just by using batChmod to change the ownership and permissions so that the aa program has no rights to even read your plugins and other folders it checks, aside from itself. You could use a VM safely, somehow.

 

Lemon doesn't appear to have a presets file of any kind so the fix for it would be much more involved...

 

its really that easy? Ive just been reading about so many people having issues errors etc.

so ONLY the 'r2r acustica framework' which is the 247.2 MB file, NOT that huge 18gb file, NOT "acustica official framework' or the 'fire the pump' programs, just install r2r framework 2023, then jam plugin, all is good to go, right?

question regarding installation, folders etc. which many complaints are about..

just drop these 2 installation files into my vst3 folder (inside a self made folder which i'll title "acustica install files") , install from there and everything lands where it needs to be, vst3 shows up in default common files/vst3, no copy/paste/replace or any of that stuff?

im on windows 10 btw

It's a saturator, presets are gonna be of very little use if any, but I understand people who want it there anyways just for the OCD factor of "completeness" of the thing.

 

while I agree, I would like to directly compare their presets to my hardware

their presets arent so much created after a certain piece of gear, its more like " master punch ", "Edm Loudness" etc etc. Curious as to which piece of gear you are looking to compare to.

Ive compared the fatso and culture vulture, and while all the models in jam sound great to me, they arent quite the same. To be expected though i believe, its never going to be the exact same. They do have a very similar color and flavor to their counterparts. Especially when pushed hard.

Would be real interesting to also investigate such a variation as Kazrog (or any good algo clipper/sat) -> your favorite old Acustica non hyper PRE ..... and compare the outcomes at the end of the day, that would really determine if JAM is useful for what it is.

 

I'm right now testing Jam against Looptrotter Sa2rate, which i think the saturator/clipper with the best transient response out there. It makes everything rounder and louder without sounding squashed. I think it will be an amazing battle.

I gotta agree with that 100%. I love JAMMIX, and it's perfect for that MA trick that i mentioned before. Feed the input of your drums with the BUFFER MAS followed by BROWNEQ Custom 8/9 PRE and 444 EQ. Just my two cents. Sounds like a sin to put anything with color after that
JAM is more for a mastering context where you want to highpass to avoid distortion on the bass or excessive treble with LPF. But, depending on the next plugin i would pick, the PRE on JAM will be turned off at mastering.
