Depends the format windows installation image is packed in the ISO. WIM (the older format, uncompressed, albeit more flexible) takes around ~35% (my estimate) more space than the newer counterpart ESD. So ISO could have a .esd inside and appear comparatively smaller than it really is. I converted an 885 MB ESD file into WIM and it became 1.26 GB after conversion (image needs to be converted in WIM to be able to mount/append/add/remove/tweak stuff) What's more bonkers is that compressed .esd format doesn't really have to have an .esd extension. Even if it's renamed .wim, still works fine.

Second thing affecting the size of ISO is the boot image. There are two indexes in it, one for installation, another to be able to boot into recovery environment. I have a boot.wim stripped down to merely 103 MB. This particular image could be used to install any Win 10/11 but it's not my build. My personal build is 190 MB, as it's only used to boot the system to install the system image, I didn't pay particular attention to stripping it further down.

My 1.31 GB ISO, I could really compress it down to ~800 MB and it will still be the exact same thing.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470T CPU @ 2.90GHz 12 gig ram. It's an Hp "legacy" from 2012. roland quad capture quite blurry, but I can get a good demo from this system. I'd say near the lowest level for artists' home studio. not for the real money maker.

I have downloaded many custom builds from many authors, will test tomorrow and report.

 

Alright, so I tried many builds from any different authors and I found Oprekin's build to be superior. There are still some caveats but everyone has their own configurations and I think Oprekin has kept it bast, for the most part, that suits everybody.

I specifically liked the fact that his builds are highly optimized and he didn't strip anything important that can't be made available using a 3rd party program.

 

I have recently installed (Windows) Tiny 11 and I am very happy with it (ESET antivirus instead of Windows Security). Running latest Adobe, Maya, Studio One, Ableton and others without any problems!
