It has made my life better. Or at least contributed to it. That doesn't answer your question. But it makes your question irrelevant to me.

Yes, thank YOU for this nice and stimulating conversation. :)

And yes, I actually have something more to contribute:

If someone wonders whether psychotherapy is a hoax or not, they should first ask themselves whether there is one psychotherapy or several psychotherapies.
They should ask themselves what psychotherapy actually is in its entirety and whether they are actually exposed to psychological therapy on a daily basis:

Advertisements, intelligence agencies, politics, lobbies, foundations, activists, UX, etc, etc, manipulate you on a daily basis with the tools that are the result of evidence-based psychological, psychotherapeutic and neurological research.

They hack your brain with means of verbal and non-verbal communication. And it's very effective. Whether and to what extent you are susceptible to these manipulations depends on how familiar you are with the mechanisms of each type of manipulation and what preconditioning you bring with you. People are most susceptible when the manipulation can tie in with their preconditioning. But there are also techniques for reprogramming this preconditioning.

Just as psychotherapy is used against you every day and to a certain extent directs and restricts your thoughts and actions, it can also be used for you. So where does the fixed idea come from that psychotherapy, which you can use positively for yourself, is a hoax? Perhaps through psychotherapy?

I'm not going to go on too long because others have already offered you more information that didn't lead you to a slightly better perception of the general picture but, before ending my participation, I'm going to focus on what hasn't been said:

Is your mind free from subjective interpretations and models? Is your mind free from contradictions? As far as I know, even an AI falls into contradictions and apologizes for mistakes, whether induced or not. About reliability, have you seen the list of side effects that any allopathy can cause? The fact that allopathies may or may not cause side effects (subject to the subjectivity of how each organism may or may not react to them) prevents you from using them (as long as you are not allergic to any active ingredient)?

Even so, allopathy has its value assured (are allopathies infallible? eureka!), while psychology is sometimes contested because it can fail due to different factors. Again, the problem is that people have no real idea of the positive impact that good therapy sessions can provide for human beings (as long as they are well conducted and as long as the person wants to do it, as it is not possible to be successful when a person does not want to do therapy —unlike allopathy, which you can shove down someone's throat!).

Psychology and Medicine are different areas of study, even though they both deal with the health of human beings. Even their academic division is different: while the first is part of the Human Sciences, the second falls under the Biological Sciences. Whether you like it, agree or not, in general, psychology is a science, a human one.

I suggest you research the difference between qualitative and quantitative assessment. It can be enlightening. Best luck!

Yes, very interesting opinions here. Thanks all!

I wanna add mind, our complex mind is what makes humans different. So we need this branch of sciences of course. All the rest is debatable. But not an hoax. There are other "therapies" more suspectfull of being an hoax, and are completely legal. AKA religions, politics, economics, big pharma...

Don't trust everybody, but trust in someone that wants to help you, is the beginning of the cure.

probably best not to discuss it on this website as it delves into the political realm which is divisive, but for those interested in reading and understanding the relationship between psychopaths and sycophants, I recommend this
    article

    https://proliberty.com/observer/20080503.htm

    here is the premise:

    Of Psychopaths and Sycophants

    By Hari Heath

The article Twilight of the Psychopaths, by Dr. Kevin Barrett, published in the March, 2008 edition of The Idaho Observer, rather succinctly and astutely reveals that civilization, as we know it, has largely been created by psychopaths. His thesis is that all civilizations are based on slavery and "warfare," which he terms a euphemism for mass murder. He proposes that the psychopath’s recipe for civilization has three steps, which form the repetitive pattern of history:

so for extra points here is a do at home article for your edification, but not for discussion on this website, audiosex.pro please do not discuss here....

I think we can separate, or should separate whether there are mental illnesses and whether talk therapy can cure mental diseases.

Anyone who has interacted with the public realizes there are mental diseases and they can be infectious.

I am of the group who thinks mental disease requires more than talk and advice. on a spectrum of possible treatments, I would put talk therapy at the minimum range, it might help and probably won't cause further harm, but its most likely to fail.

many drugs or things that are used as drugs like the element lithium, can have profound affects on mental states and can treat people effictively.

like all healing, it comes from the patient, not the practioner.

the difficulty lies in the patient's ability to understand that they have a mental illness as the illness itself distorts their reasoning so they don't realize the extent of their malady. It becomes a loop of madness, perhaps the drugs break the loop and allow the mind to heal.

I don't know where this connection with politics and politicians comes from, but it is surely far-fetched. Other people's rights come from universal moral principles that guide our treatment of each other. These principles reflect core values like fairness, justice, and respect for human dignity and autonomy. They are based on the moral responsibility to ensure everyone can meet their basic needs and lead a dignified life. Narcissists do not respect them as part of their generally negligent attitude toward other people's well-being.

i think you're confusing narcissists with pyschopaths, but one knows and doesn't care, and the other doesn't know and can't care. so a fine line between madmen..

or more likely, the pyschopath does know, but doesn't care. its hard for the non-pyscho path to think like a pyschopath and really know for sure.

The connection...every politician that I've met is a narcissist, obviously from the context.

Well, sociopaths, anyway... not all sociopaths are narcissists but I suspect all narcissists (in the clinical sense) probably qualify as sociopaths. Or psychopaths.

A narcissistic psychopath is a type of personality disorder that exhibits traits of both narcissism and psychopathy. These individuals are often very destructive to the people around them. They are usually unable to feel empathy or guilt, and they have no problem manipulating others for their gain.

    A narcisopath

Hmm... Depends on the definition. If a "thing", as in Kant's definition, is an imaginary or intelligible object that can only be grasped with the intellect and not through sensory perception, then the statement does not necessarily include him as a physically existing human. He would then merely deny the existence of an "I", a "soul", "ego", "personality" or "humanity", "moral", "ethics", etc and thus, of course, support the statement that psychotherapy is a hoax.

The same goes for the ones you haven't met yet. But they are far richer in personal disorders. You seem to miss out on psychopathy, Machiavellianism, paranoia, histrionic, and OCD disorders, all quite synergistic.

It is not for NPCs who lack personality, self-awareness and education

What fascinates me is how they managed to rewrite their code to promote it while making them completely ignore the iatrogenic nature of this industry
