Has anyone tried Sonible's Smart:De ess? If so, how does it compare to others you've tried?

Does burger taste better than fries or is lasange better?

Is spaghetti the tastiest or just another dish?

I would say just try it yourself and see what you like!

Hey, Herznote, LOL. The thread is asking how Sonible's De-Esser compares to others. I'll ask the Mods to move your comment to the cooking forum.

The topic of the thread is interesting. Above all, comparisons based on specific parameters would provide interesting insights.

But what exactly do you mean by "good, "better" and "best"? Perhaps it would be useful to fill these adjectives with meaning by explaining what you mean by good and why it (whatever it is) is good in the first place. The alternative would be to use adjectives that have a meaning of their own without having to be declared first.

You apparently didn't understand the meaning of my statement. There is no such thing as "the best". The best thing is if it's good for you and you like it (workflow)

speaking of de-essers, new TDR Arbiter is pretty good once you understand it, explanation for its de-essing (starts at 35:27)

EDIT: I'm not showing an alternative, but how de-essing principles can vary,
speaking of Sonible de-ess, I don't think it sounds better in all cases, you'd need to specify your question

Creating threads is often painful. Rarely does anyone respond directly to the topic. Instead, posters suggest you try the demos or nitpick about the wording of the topic This is a simple How Does This Compare To That.

The word "good" has no meaning in itself. Your question is therefore completely meaningless and invites the community to give equally meaningless answers that ultimately offer no added value to anyone. :dunno:

Lord help me. I simply wanted to create a thread comparing Sonible's de-esser to others. Instead I am being asked to debate about the word "good" and perhaps the meaning of life. Why do such people bother to post?

It's probably because you expect your questions to be answered here. There would have to be someone here who has all of the de-essers you listed and can tell you the differences. Perhaps you'll be lucky? I can tell you that I have a de-esser (fabfilter) and am completely satisfied with it. If there is a "better" one, I don't really care because fabfilter is the best for my workflow. Find out what is best for you and don't rely on statements. What is best for one person may be worst for you.

I changed the topic question. Perhaps now I will see posts that correspond to the thread instead of criticism. There are many threads I pass over because I have nothing relevant to contribute.

It's bad. Besides compressing the highs it also generates distortion.

Any recommendations for a de-esser that doesn't compress the highs and generate distortion? THANK you for the post!!!

Acon Digital Multiband does not generate distortion from 20Hz - 20kHz with a lookahead of 30ms or linear phase mode.

Your thread is completely fair and it's reasonable to ask other's opinions about it and compared to other options available, I have no idea why some people here are discussing lasagna, pizza and the semantics of "good".

its fine! a good plugin. I enjoy their smart series, but the smartness 90% of the time needs a little tweaking. Great starting points though.
