It's among my desert island plugins. It's waaaaaaay more than a reverb -the dev is very active on Gearspace and gives really good examples on how it can be used, like a mastering tool for instance lol.

Glad I could be of no help!
Joking aside, it basically boils down to tension and release. There are a million ways to achieve it, depending on the genre. All I can say is to listen carefully to your fav tech/trance artists and try to take notice how they let the arrangement breathe before going all guns blazing. Pads and reverbs are omnipresent.

See my previous sentence. You can get there with a completely analytical mind. Nowadays especially tech and trance have very clearly defined patterns (more experimental artists notwithstanding).

I get what you were trying to achieve.
Just saying that for my subjective personal taste, it's a bit too sine-y :bleh:
Don't wanna say anything wrong here, but from the top of my head, I can't really think of any tracks that use only a sine for bass.

Anyway, up for a collab? :dj:

No, I said "mathematical", not "analytical". As in "Tension and release is stupid, emotion is stupid, ear candy is stupid, transition effects is stupid, I'm not doing any of that. Now add another polyrhythm, you slab of meat on a stick calling yourself a sapient being."
I have to fight that shit at every turn.

Yes, theoretically. In practice, it must be your project, cause when it comes to my own ideas, I'm overcontrolling and overzealous.

By analytical I meant one can analyze and discover a mathematical formula behind it.
There's a book called The Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization, written by jazz musician and teacher George Russell in 1953.

I have nowhere near enough theoretical knowledge to even sum it up, but if I'm to repeat stuff I've read about it, it proposes a "new" harmonic approach in composition and improvisation. It's been extremely influential to future musicians, going way beyond the jazz world, and one of the things this approach allows is to create harmonic tension and release -how you can stack up chords and play melodies that allows t&r can be explained with this purely theoretical (and since this is music, mathematical) concepts.

Granted, it's a different form of t&r than we hear in dance music, but the effect on the listener can be similar -energy build-up, then elation.

So it can be seen as a purely mathematical concept.
Of course the emotional impact depends on other things as well, otherwise Jacob Collier would be the most emotional musician ever instead of giant dildo that jerks itself day and night.

Even if we pretend I'm doing a remix of your stuff? :bleh:

Main melody is good. If you make a breakbeat and work the drum elements better, you can produce a good track reminiscent of PLAID. Yes, the arpeggiated synth and melody sounded like Plaid. Plaid uses Icarus and Falcon for their drum parts.

    :D :D :D
    If only you knew :D
Oof. Aight, can't just leave it like this.
The absolute majority of my music is based on breakbeats, and I use odd signatures often. I *am* heavily inspired by PLAID to boot, and I do have a few things in the works that lean heavier into that inspiration, tho I admittely bit off more than I could chew with them and they take more time than I would've wanted.

I guess I should've called the "mathematical" part of my brain something else. Like "being an animal is stupid" part of my brain or "feeling is stupid" part of my brain. And also specify that its influence is strong enough to ruin important parts of my life. But that would be a bit personal.
    Finally somebody said that.
    Pretending is stupid.
I perhaps can give you rendered files for an actual remix if you want. My later projects are more or less intact.

    For real?
I'm sorry then, but the same thing in my brain won't ever let me pretend or roleplay anything that I know to be false, and unlike its whining about being a leather sack of flesh and bones that constantly feels shit, this part is unignorable.
I can still give you files for a proper remix, or collab on your project if you would let me.

Also this thread is not about my fucked head, it's about the piece of music it produced. Let's leave further personal details to my psychiatrist.

    I was just kidding lol.

I'll write you soon for any eventual collab idea. I'm pretty busy with stuff that makes me wanna choke on my own blood and will be for the foreseeable near future, but it could be fun to do something together (or maybe we'll just end up sending anthrax to each other, idk).

if you aimed for trance this did not get me into that feeling, the mix is punchy and the synths covers most of the drums, thats why the clap is hard to hear, the melodies twist here and there, to me creating a bit of confusion because you use the same synth doing many variations, someone said about a pad well, you cannot do trance without! the length of this track with all the synths bouncing around should be 2:30 to 3:30 minutes circa.

Sorry if I'm harsh on you, I am a trance lover too, and let me say that I feel that very few track today can be called trance, the genre had evolved or was carried out to other paths by some well known artists, but you can create great stuff still, you just need time, and great ideas, lush melodies and pads ...or go nuts with energy rhythms and catchy melodies ...

I'll leave you some of my work to reach out if you wish!

You know, my favourite Trance tune is Exposure by Current Value and well, if you know you know.
Is faint clap really that bothersome? You're the third person to bring this up and what I wanted at first is not to have it at all.
You can just post it in this subforum for everybody to hear. If I wasn't shy - you certainly don't have to be either.

past: MIKE Push, Johan Gillen, Rank1, Faithless, EVSB, PVD, Signum...there are more ...
present: The Noble Six, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Stoneface & Terminal, Sean Tyas, could be more...

mine is "Thrill" by Ernesto VS Bastian !?...
now about the clap, if that is what you wanted then is ok, it just that sometimes it gets lost but could pass unnoticed try to adjust it for mixing purposes.

Just so the context of this joke isn't being lost, here's the track.

@virusg I hope that would clarify some things :D

Was gonna say "uh, that isn't trance", but then I remembered you're asking for feedback/advice. And learning by mistake is the best learning, so I didn't say nothing.
