So I've got something I thought was done, but listened to it and thought it might be a bit harsh.





I attached a new mix I just did, which turned out quite a bit different. I wonder if I should replace the original, or maybe they're both unacceptable? My mixing skills are weak and this was recorded on a portable Zoom mic.

I think the first version sounds a bit too close and the second definitely too far away.

 

First example is better (second is too distant and unusable ,first is raw without correction). Do high shelving (3-20khz) and atten. high freq. Violin resolution is in the middle spectrum and little eq bump in cca 750 Hz is welcome.

I don´t see any objection. The EQ is great. Sounds superb to my ears. Maybe just a little Hall from a good reverb.

I replaced the original with basically that last version, but increase the predelay on the tail slightly, to make it more 'hall' like (I think).

 

I don't think there is something wrong with your work. By the way, I am curious if you play the violin for a living.
