Right now I'm working on three albums and they are from different Genre (Soca, Rap, & R&B)

But i have came to a stand still lol, i know you are going to say it's alot of work with stress , time , budget and it's affecting my creative side but i must move on, no time to fiddle my thumbs.

What do you do to get yourself pumping again?

    Methods i have tried:
    Sleep (wake up tired)
Medical Weed (Too HIGH to think?)
    Liquor (too drunk to move)
    E (jokes)
Fresh Air, a walk down the avenue (great sounds in the city to my ears, doesn't make it to my brain?)
Midi improv (some progress, time consuming)
    Sex (Can't get off lol)

Im thinking a little bit of some of those methods should make a wicked potion but i need to blend music not liquids :bleh:

    Please Advise My Fellow Members

    Right now i'm reading this

I copy/paste my answer about this from another thread:

About getting stuck, I used to try some different things.
1 - Listen to work by other composers in a similar genre and style and take inspiration - steal :grooves: - from them.
2 - Play around with sounds and instruments that I normally wouldn't use. This was probably most useful for me since it would often send me in completely new directions and give me fresh ideas.
3 - Play the demo to some guys that I knew and trusted and get their input, sometimes ask other musicians to add their personal touch.

Good luck with your work Kontakt Guru :keys:

Yea Guys, it's Friday i might just out and let loose lol

it funny you know because when I'm mixing all with these genre they are very similar to each other, for instance if i speed up the R&B tracks it almost sounds like soca and when i down tempo soca it's sound R&B? Maybe it's just me who knows but i think my ideas are all over the place, Progression here, Harmony there, Chords everywhere..
    God Save me

Yeah producers block sucks big time...just walk away for like a week...seriously, not just a day or 2 just give it all a break for a good while because if you don't you'll get stuck even more and it gets worse. Go do random stuff. Another thing i fine really helps is to listen to different genres other than yours. It REALLY helps

Producer's block is part of growth. However, if it's imperative that you make one, you have to simply force it. It may not be your best, but you'll be warming your creative side up.

Your creativity/imagination is like a muscle. You need to warm it up before you really get it going...... and sometimes, it needs to rest and regroup.

    Dear Kontakt Guru,

We all have the best time for music creation... *yes*
then you must to know what is your's ...
Respect your time of creation for self realization and work purposes.
Preserve your body and your spirit...
Then came the Sex, Alcohool, Weed and everything else... (in this order or mixed...)

Thanks for all the tips Guys

But this is coming at a worst time!!! That i think i have to contract my work out and that's never good for future Business, unless i can keep it inhouse? there are a few producers & engineers here maybe give them a share but oversee the production but i can't give them credits and i hate doing that(everyone needs exposure in this business) :dunno:

Now seriously, try different DAWs, it brings new inspirations, (and I don't know why) at least for me.

When I have sex I can produce the whole night and day afterwards. I'm not kidding. Sex is the one of the main things that inspire me. Of course, it might not work for everybody. News can be disturbing and inspiring as well as watching Youtube and BBC documentaries. Change of any kind, doing something out of your ordinary schedule can be great for inspiration, too. Like going out to a party, having a stroll in the park, dancing the night away or travelling... whatever rocks your boat. All these work for me, too, actually. :)

I've been going through this for a few weeks now, good ideas but nothing comes out to fruition... Best thing that has helped me is just pushing things in a different way... For example, taking on a sheet ton more responsibility at work and coming out more exhausted but creates a more energized time when working on a track or some sheet... I dunno I haven't slept well in like 2 weeks

Force it! That was top advice for sure.

Producer/writer/artist block is deep-seated ego fear, of both failure and of success. You may not even feel it working that way, but it's pulling the strings on you, sucking out your motivation to grind.

If you say "ego gonna ego", and just force yourself to grind on, like nothing happened, you'll be a lion among men.

  15. Use essential oils like lemon and peppermint combined and use a diffuser to fill the air with these scents that have pleasant a way to stimulate your mind. It really works for me, and especially for an ex-student of mine that would fall asleep when we were working together after school. You could also hang different pictures around the room to break up the monotony.

This is absolutely 100% the problem. If you got a girlfriend & this is still a problem.....She needs to be fired & replaced for someone with a "Better Skillset".

    "even worse"? Death Metal rules!

When I get stuck, and I don't feel like getting out or similar, and I just want to stay next to the desk and try I do a simple thing... I listen to the music that got me into doing this. The music that I thought "I'd love to do something like that once day".

You know, before I even picked up a guitar I listened to some music and just wondered... how did they do that?

One of the things that I have noticed is that the music that got me started in music was a lot simpler than the music that I am trying to do today. Back then they probably used less than 10 tracks: two for guitars, one for bass, one for vocals; maybe one for keyboards and the rest on a drum kit. And some kick-ass mixing and mastering. These days I make a song that has 20+ tracks, and I add more and more and the damn song is never ready! hahaha (I'm sure you all experience that). The thing is, I stress about making it so perfect that it becomes a cacophony of effects and extra stuff I don't need; and then I realise that I am pushing myself too hard, and I simplify it, and I concentrate in mixing and mastering better, and voila! Or, I just take a break and I drink a lot of red wine. Hell, I've had enough already tonight!

Anyway, it's nice to go back to our roots sometimes, and remember why we started this.

Not sure if it applies to you, mate; but good luck!
