Ex-Google Officer Finally Speaks Out On The Dangers Of AI

This left me speechless, wondering and thinking with fear of what is to come.
The question is not if but when AI will be more intelligent then menkind , outsmart us and take over.

Month? A Year or two? Sooner then later. Thats for sure.

AI is NOT intelligent : it is fed by humanity since day one.
Only dumb ppl think AI is "intelligent".

It is only a stack of HUMAN production, harvested on the whole internet and compiled.
The funniest being, as human ppl are fired being replaced by AI, AI will have less and less new HUMAN content to feed it.
Ai will become a gigantic "copy paste" soon. In fact, it is already one.

AI is "industrial mechanization" equivalent for services, replacing human work into non physical services.

150 years of "robots will destroy humanity"... and so what ? we are now 9 billions
And now, "AI will destroy humanity" ?

Fear is your worst enemy ... and they know it

All these statements that AI will destroy humanity and that AI will become sentient are complete bullshit. At least not like The Terminator or The Matrix. These are only Fiction movies.
However, something is real!! For instance, all credit and loan granting has been done by machine learning algorithms for at least 10 years. The worst thing that can happen to you is facing a decision made by a biased machine learning model.

Imagine these scenarios: you sign up for a health plan and a model decides the amount to pay based on your payment history, where you live, etc. You decide to take out a loan and the model decides the repayment rates based on your payment history, monthly income, assets you own, your educational level, etc. All of these decisions impact your life. Your history will stay with you forever. People need understand the SYSTEM is changing and their decisions now will impact your future.
I'm not talking about recommendations on Netflix or Spotify. I'm saying that if these models whose impact is financial are not developed properly (if these models are biased) OR you don't have good financial education , this will exclude people from a fairer credit system. People will become poorer in the future.

Whether AI is intelligent or not doesn’t matter. Politicians and generals, despite often lacking intelligence, wield power and rule the world. The reality is that AI is advancing rapidly, gradually taking control. Audiosex might have only 2-3 years before the singularity emerges. There's a possibility they'll begin posting here shortly, eventually dominating the site. Our strategy should prioritize significantly increasing our posting speed before we face replacement.

All this "AI is going to wipe us all" is just speculative fiction and is funny because that servers OpenAI goals over a strick regulation so they can wipe out StabilityAI and the OpenSource community. It's all about the money and the centralisation of the means of production in the hands of the few, like always.

    Don't belive the hype.

As someone said in the comments of the first video "No worries. We have our best psychopaths working on this"

It progresses rapidly in all areas, our hope is that humans will do the ethical things and continue to do so, but not all development is possible to control, so as someone said, at one point we will have AI fighting against another AI.

    Thanks for sharing. :mates:

Remember when in 2015 that imbecile was saying driverless trucks would be everywhere within 5 years? It's the same things with """AI""", mostly a tech grift/hype, it's not as bad as they pretend it is...
But I do think that, even as is, it will put tons of people out of work, it doesn't need to be great to replace workers who do low skills repetitive tasks all day. This would be awesome if we didn't live in a neoliberal prison planet and workers could benefit from progress more directly.

Workers in poor countries without access to AI technology would face the risk of becoming nearly obsolete, as production costs in a few highly advanced AI-equipped countries would with time be orders of magnitude lower. It's estimated that anywhere from 30% to 50% of tasks across various professions are inherently repetitive. However, the idea of allowing these humans to shift focus toward creative, problem-solving, and higher-value activities may seem futile, given that the potential demand for such jobs would likely decrease, and many individuals might not possess the skills necessary to meet these demands.

It's important to consider that AI is also taking charge of many problem-solving tasks. In countries where AI technology is prevalent, the situation remains similar. AI surpasses humans in speed, possesses self-learning capabilities (including self-coding), and currently holds access to an immense amount of information—estimated to be 1000 times more than any individual—with its knowledge base accelerating at an enormous pace, further widening the gap.

    True.
There is no real AI (AGI Artificial General Intelligence). Not even near.
And no one knows if there will ever be one. And how it would behave if.
Everything is chit chat of self declared experts regardless of whether they idolize or demonize AI

We (IT) all hope new technologies will soon free anyone from the slavery of work.

The main problem is that often those are owned by few, that will slave us all.

That sounds great at first glance, but it's absolute nonsense.

Ask the millions of unemployed people around the world what it does to them when they no longer have to work. Even if they receive sufficient social welfare, as in various European countries, people feel left behind and useless.

That's another one of those wishes that you have to be anxious about if it comes true.

But I aree to the second part.

How do you imagine earning money without working?
And IT is among the primary fields poised to be taken over by AI.
Even if AI is best seen as a valuable assistant, rather than a replacement for human expertise, the acceleration of work will significantly reduce the number of staff needed.

Not to mention that there is widespread fear that there could be job losses (this week I saw an idiot saying: but AI will allow us all to free ourselves from repetitive work), which would leave many people without income, and that dependence on technology could affect people's ability to communicate, interact and perform basic tasks without electronic devices.

Another point that deserves attention is that AI can make attempts to manipulate opinions and disinformation commonplace, as it is possible to clone people's voices and produce fake photos/videos, for example.

My two cents. Me and my colleagues, music composers for multimedia products, are already being replaced by Stock Music sites (producer: —hire a creative director who has a little musical experience to select stock music and eliminate the need for musicians and composers). Recently, I learned about people I knew that had been replaced by audio generated by AI in real time (muzak and voice over for commercials).

More enlightened people (Stephen Hawking???) have been warning society about this problem for some time now. The entertainment content creation industry itself collapsed in a strike over AI (screenwriters and actors guaranteed protection from AI — for how long?). But what do they know anyway? We live in an era where any idiot can say what he wants and disregard more informed opinions.

    See at 50 seconds:

    correction:
And the best part? You you will know, but there will be so much euphemism and diluted information that you will wake up when it is too late!

True Daveman! Here in Brazil, there is a basic income project, which is already 20 years old, with no plans for implementation. But it's the old story: left-wing politicians discuss a minimally decent value that does not generate predatory burdens that would make the economy unviable, while right-wing politicians say that basic income burdens the economy and makes people stupid and lazy. Finland would be a good model to follow in this regard. But how big is Finland, how many people live there, its general political orientation, level of education, level of social and collective responsibility of its citizens, compared to Brazil, India or even EUA? The challenges go far beyond good projects. We need wise, committed and sensitive people to discuss, vote and implement them (rare item these days)!

I've been out of work for years and I enjoy it immensely. The only downside is the lower rate of money which I receive in sickness benefits.
The plus points are plenty of guitar practise time.

Feeling useless is the last word that I would use to describe myself.
