Me? I just ran down to the corner store and grabbed a Debian of Linux and a pack of American Spirits. Bulletproof.

I installed a pihole before Christmas, and over Christmas my two daughters came to visit. They both use iPhones and Apple laptops.

I was genuinely shocked by how frequently they attempt to connect to Apple. They made Microsoft look benign by comparison. Each phone/laptop was connecting at least once a minute.

The other major offenders were:
Google.
Netflix (from my Tivo and Smart TV)
Samsung (phone and smart TV)
Skype (I don't have it installed anywhere or use it anywhere. It still connects)
Amazon. (Could just be devs using Amazon servers?)

 

I love Little Debbians with American Spirits, great breakfast combo, but usually have a blackout lunch...
followed by afternoon nap.

 

when Skype was revealed to have a huge NSA backdoor, I sent them some hate mail about how they should be ashamed of themselves charging for spyware. They refunded my subscription in full and I've never used video conferencing software since then.

 

try little Debbies, they are more better mostly, thing they may have some heroin in them as they are very addicting...

 

Due to ingrained precautions, lessons-learned, and just knowing what to keep an eye out for, I've *rarely even gotten Malware on my browsing laptop, despite grabbing all sorts of stuff from dungy online dives, and I've never got Malware on my audio or gaming PC. But then, my audio PC barely touches the interwebs, with it usually only connecting to authorize one-time online-only licenses, and grab updates. Plus, both are set up with TinyWall, a short-ass whitelist, a pile of browser blockers, no built-in wifi ($5, removable Realtek wireless adapter,) etc., etc., so if something can find a way on to my PC, it deserves to get through. And as for my gaming PC, I'm strictly GOG/Galaxy (DRM-free, baby ) so I download my games and jump offline, no MMORPGs or Battle Royales or slinking around COD or anything like that. (I'm old school in that I play video games so I don't have to interact with mouthbreathers, not so I can join a mob of them online. )
