Who is the developer of the VST - Albino?

The last two posts in aoz say LinPlug Albino..., but KVR says it's Rob Papen:

    Can't tell, sorry..
    Rob Papen words:

"As you might know, a few years ago I asked LinPlug do build a custom synthesizer, with my specs and ideas added…. and last but not least my presets added."

He was talking about Albino... so..... you get the picture.

Regz - so does that mean he gave a URS (User Requirement Specification), to LinPlug, to make something for him.
So I wonder who gets the patent / copywright?

Also - It must've been in the early days before RP had any programming skill himself.
Or is that is modus operandi... give others his specification, then put his name on the badge label?

I still like to use it from time to time. Even though this synth is still highly credited, one must admit that there are
way better synths, nowadays. Many people like it for it's usabillity and pad sounds. And they do indeed sound great.

But I could name more than 10 synths in 10 seconds with better pad sounds.
On second thought, I think I'd need 20 seconds.

Rob Papen came with the ideas and factory presets and Linplug coded albino.
cooperation is over and thats why Albino is discontinued.

still like the layering and the old fashion sounding of albino and for the moment i see only Spectral as a close alternative.

the cross bundle for predator is a joke - Predator sounds nothing close to albino.

No, that's true. Predator sounds way better than Albino. Together with the Waldorf PPG and U-He Diva still one of the best synths available.
Albino doesn't sound as rich and deep as other synths. But how could it? It's pretty old.

There is an updated version (4/3/2014):
    What's new in Albino 3.2.1
    • Fixed Silk Filter panning bug
    • Fixed a bug which could cause a crash on load
    • Improved Logic X compatibility

This product is discontinued at 31.December 2012.
Support and updates will be available until 30.May 2014

PD: is not too pretty old :))...in fact Waldorf PPG is older.

Yes, the gear itself is older. But software version 3 of the PPG is what I'm talking about. About two years old. *yes*

    Big Mike:

sry for the confusion. The first software version of Waldorf PPG was released about 2001-2002 (V2.0). Later they released a new version around 2010, the V 3.0 (3-4 years ago), that in fact is still in 32 bit version, Waldorf never released a 64 bit version (as far as i know). On the contrary Albino has 64 bit since version 3.1 (around 2010) . Aniway Waldorf PPG is a pretty good synth *yes*

    In brief:

Waldorf PPG: version 2 released in 2002 / latest version 3 V 1.02-32 bit only (warez) released may 2011

    Albino: version2 released in 2004 /latest version 3.2.1 -32/64 bit, released in march 2014

    ...which is older?? :grooves:

"as rich" or "as deep"... right, so wft does that actually mean for the rest of us? something measurable?
"predator sounds way better" - heres a real audio engineer speaking.

"better".. your perception of better doesnt match with mine.

PS albino has editable slopes in its envelopes so if predator is its successor its more of a downgrade.

Yes, so far so good. But it's just additions that have been made (for detailed info read the manual). They didn't recode the whole engine.
That makes the difference. The whole PPG got recoded. So, in my opinion Albino 3 is not really a full new version.
    It's just the latest v.2. ... labelled as v.3.

    Big Mike

That means detailed. "rich" and "deep" are just words trying to describe what I assume to hear, or how I would describe it.
Those are questionable words. You can use "detailed" instead. :)
