In tonal and functional music, it is assumed that one note is the home note and after touring, we finally go home. This analogy is derived from the fact that everyone has only one house and at the end of the night, he is supposed to return to that house.
If a person has 7 houses and lives in any of them whenever he wants, what will happen to the tonality issue? Who or what forces people to live in only one house?
Suppose a person leaves a house in the morning (for example, home number 1) and goes to home number 3 at night. Even the police cannot arrest him. Because that person had so much money that he could buy 7 houses.

What happens if that person does not return home at all? For example, go to a hotel or sleep on the street.

Congratulations! You've just discovered the fact that modal music can indeed exist!

Having seven houses may mean having seven spouses (polygamy or polyandry), which is not allowed in the West. Maybe the rules need to be changed.

no that is not how it works.

in tonal music (functional harmony) the tonic function is the home function.
(notes are superfical, it is the function that is deep meaning in the music.)

*just like spoken language where there isn't anything significant about which letters you choose! but instead, the MEANING of the sentence is what is significant.

a KEY means the special connection between a major chord and a minor chord.

take for example the KEY of C major..

does this mean that the C note is the home note? no.

it means C major and A minor are in union

Tonic function chords in key of C major.
    Cmaj7 CEGB
    C6 CEGA

    Emin7 EGBD
    G6 GBDE

^--these are the most consonant of the tonic function chords but not all of them
yes the C note is significant

    AminMaj ACEG#
    Amin7 ACEG
    Amin6 ACEF#

so NOTES don't mean home in functional harmony FUNCTION (tonic) means home.
    tonic means home , hero
    subdominant means journey adcenture
    dominant means villian, tension

tonal music functional harmony works identical to storytelling

notes are not important function is.

my new recent thread answers this by completely describing tonal functional harmony for you and showing every relationship.

there are 3 functions within a key center.
there is a set of relationships that make up all progressions and song sections built from the relationships of the functions and how tension resolves at the the tonic function

in the key of C major.
    A note is tonic
    C note is tonic
    E note is tonic
    G note is tonic
(those are all equally relaxed tonic)
B note is tonic but has color
D note is tonic but has color
F# note is tonic but has color

    (Tonic) means home
not a certain note lol :D

    * like with spoken language

    home house
    place of residence
    accommodation

    property

    a roof over one's head
    quarters

    lodgings
    board and lodging
    address

    location

    place

    pad

    digs

    residence

all those mean "home" it has nothing to do with cerrtain letters but the meaning.

    music is identical to that

That's the type of question I'd expect from someone that never analyzed a piece of tonal music in their lives. I reckon this is supposed to be parody so I'll let you slip. :bleh:

Yea, modal can mean so many things nowadays but I can't really make a connection here. The misinformation surrounding "modal music" is honestly bewildering.
