Haven't used legit AA plugins apart from some free stuff, so i have no clue what this one does in particular, i just mentioned that so legit users can confirm whether it's true or not, anyway thanks for the reply

To color the signal with the preamp character, is it better to reduce or increase input trim?

I am 100% sure because it was one of my very few contributions lol

try the section "General Info About Using R2R AA Plugins", it should be there, in the spoiler and expand box

(or at least it seems to be there)

as stated, stevie added even the "handmade" version, that another user so kindly submitted

pay attention to the VU meter, ideally you'd want the signal to peak at around 0db VU (-18dbFS) :

    upload_2023-12-20_17-54-27.png

increasing the input trim and pushing the signal beyond the 0dbVU (meter above into red) will push the signal into compression and (soft-knee) clipping. It's what engineers call "driving the pre hard" on the analog domain. That is not necessarily bad, but the signal will go into non-linearity where the frequency balance (EQ curve) might change, the envelope of the sound will be modified, the dynamic range reduced slightly in exchange you get more harmonic distortion. It's perceivable so you want to listen carefully and decide whether you like it that way, or just a mild preamp sound that most of the time will make sense when stacked together with other tracks. Me personally I keep it below 0db, if i want distortion/saturation, there's always million other options.

you dont need to compensate for gain when using the input trim.

    correct

let's think at the input trim knob of Acustica Audio plugins (analog emulators) like a "headroom threshold" or something, more than a "input signal volume"

I usually use all emulation plugins in "set and forget", then I only tweak the input (headroom) trim. Its the same concept/process for many engineers that work with analogue machines. Example: Chris Lord Alge never (or very very rarely) touches the settings of his analogue gear, he just tweaks how much signal to send into it

(also because it would be very difficult to recall a session with 20 different machines on 20 different settings for every sessions...)

well I think that the best way to use AA and all analog emulator is using this concept (and your CPU and workflow will be very happy too lol)

Still after the fixed R2R reup , when on Tulip channel strip and activate preamps it stops the sound and you cant hear or select any preamp . You have to restart it to hear again . Win 10 , Ableton 11 .VST3

No matter what program you're working in I suggest you install a second DAW to test such errors.
Most people will advise you to install Reaper, it's not a question of better or worse, it's only ~20 mb and you don't even need to unlock it with keygen.

dear friends, this thread is for bug reports, issues and fixes, so any feedback about "the sound" sounds unuseful imho

Stevie Dude, who started the thread, writes his personal comments in another thread, which is titled "your opinion about AA plugz"

please, write here "the plugin doenst work so it doesnt change the sound at all", thats would be very useful and welcomed here!

Not happening here VST3 in both Reaper and S1. Everything working fine so far. I haven't thoroughly checked them but as far as all the thing you've mentioned, it works fine.

    Well.. not yet I guess.

care to explain ? is the plugin failing by design or it's a bug or problems ?

Although I have not known for being one that follows the law/rule all my life, I believe keeping things nicely compartmentalized is always a great way of doing things so the focus remains on the important matter, one thing at a time. Thanks. We have too many opinion threads for now here in AS already and I hope the amount of non-related stuff can be minimized here. Instead of posting opinions, how about share the tips, or tricks with detailed instructions so others can try, explore and get the best out of that particular plugin.

Also I have trouble keeping up with stuff this holiday season because I'm busy getting wasted everyday with friends visiting etc, apologies in advance. R2R slowing down on the AA release isn't really helping in the motivation department lately for all of us too I believe ? haha. I aim to improve the main thread, update them to add more information soon, if anyone wants to contribute, just write your piece, I'll be the editor (lol XD) and include it in the main thread. Almost 600 posts on this thread now lol, it's approaching "Megathread" as I intended.
