This product sole purpose is simply to get you to talk/think about Dyson. This product was unveiled as what was thought to be an April fools joke in 2022 however the long game ended up being utilizing this for media coverage up to over a year and a half later as evidence by this thread's existence.

It is about the 3 different methods of brand recognition. The very fact that you thought about the Dyson company in an adjacent context other than previous means a win for them.
If there are people that buy it ok cool whatever... but the intention was never to sell units as a direct profit chain. It was all psychological marketing budget being used in a clever way to get otherwise tech coverage from people that would not be reviewing a vacuum. MKBHD covered this a couple of times. Do you think Dyson would have ever made the channel with a vacuum? Not likely, plus all of the other coverage. Well worth the investment of some plastic molding, fans, and a filter manufacturing cost.

Too expensive gimmick, but wearing masks on heavy pollutionated enviroments like citys can extend you life and the quality of it a bunch of years. The Industrial Revolution's tradition of don't giving a fuck at all about poisonius air still amaze me. C'mon, We don't even get high on it.

Yes and no. This is an air purifier and filter, not a mask. It therefore just grabs the air around you, purifies and filters, and chucks it down your gullet. If in cold environments, that can actually be harmful to you as it will under-activate your bacteria, organs, and blood cell response to infections and so on, so could theoretically at least be harmful to you.

That's not withstanding the fact that I'm sure that noise cancelling headphones cause more injuries and incidents due to lack of awareness of surroundings and so on, so not entirely a one way street even if the 'mask' bit was beneficial.

Ah, Dyson, the man who lobbied for Brexit then relocated himself and his company to Malaysia after it went through.

Yeah that is a tottally shitty as a mask, but filtering 2,5pM particles is not a bad idea in cities. But then you can do that with a propper FFP2 mask an spent the rest of the money on a good headphones and a pair of monitors for the studio

I bought a used Dyson vacuum 10 years ago and it's still working like it was new.. I don't post glamour shots of the vac to Instagram so it's safe to say I just wanted something to suck up dog hair reliably.
