reason why I skipped FF800 for 802/UFX is, it's not possible to use 4 mic inputs and 8 line inputs simultaneously on FF800,
apart from that it's a great interface and friends still use it even on new Macs (with Thunderbolt3-2-Firewire adapters) or Windows PCs (with PCIe Firewire cards) rock-solid

 

@babyface users.

I saw this being used on stage as well (probably since it has a small footprint). It's a pretty steep price for the number of in/outs it provides (counting the physical ports on the device).
Am I right that it can't do any more then the usual 4 in/ 2 XLR out without using the digital ports?

Can I use external FX via insterts with it or do I need the bigger interface for that?

+ A load of in- and outputs you can route until you drop.
+ 19'' rackmount
+ Really good and stable drivers.
+ Thunderbolt because USB is by far not as stable as TB (says RME).

Because I'm on PC now. UAD gear simply works more elegantly w/Mac. RME interfaces have always been solid low latency pieces of kit. I'll definitely have a pcie card for my tower & I'm leaning towards the RME eco system. Plus I'll have enough DSP w/the Apollos I have already for awhile to handle beefy sessions. I've got an octo & quad satellite on top of the Apollos. I wont spend another dime on UAD interfaces until V3 or if they flat out go 100% native theres zero reason for me to get another UAD interface... I do like the impedance switching in their mic pre's for the emulations though.

firewire 800 doesn't works with windows 11, amazing for all this device will be stuck to windows 10 , truly disaster down the road of update.

I've had it for I believe 1 full year now.

What advantages or disadvantages have you found with your audio interface?
Advantages: I bought this because it has two inputs, so I could connect up a synth in stereo (I have a Uno Synth). It also has a MIDI connector. And well, it looks purdy. lol

Disadvantages: I'd swear my older Focusrite Solo (and 2i2 before that) ran a bit better, lower latency. I could be wrong though. Lots has changed on my system. One annoyance is I've had my ears nearly blown a couple times when a VST ran rogue (HornetPlugins VHS) due to a bug. That was at moderate listening levels. I don't know if the Focusrite interfaces had anything in them to limit that, but I've never had anything do that before. That is the fault of the Hornet plugin, I'm sure.. I've avoided that VST since and haven't had anything like that happen since though, knock on wood.

If I were doing over, I'd probably stick with the 3rd gen (or whatever latest gen) Focusrite 2i2 or another interface, but I don't dislike this one.

the Black Lion Audio Revolution 2x2 is a very interesting new release on the audio interface market! the price is currently around 300,00 Euro. it would be interesting if someone of us has already bought this interface and could give a first impression.
