Hi all! Do you guys know of other developers similar to Fuse Audio Labs? I mean, both specialized in emulating old rare analog gear and also passionate/thorough, good sounding? Thanks so much!

FAL is high tier. It's hard to match the quality and personality of their plugins. But the closer is Black Rooster Audio. Very close DSP

Black Rooster plugs have some twists on familiar analog gear and a few obscure surprises. I find them to be roughly equal to Fuse audio.

Cool! I read that the FAL guy did some work for Black Rooster! I really like Analog Obsession, too. I heard good things about Red Rock and a guy on YouTube called Yuri Semeonov... but haven't tested any of those yet! Softube is alright, but does not sound nearly as good as FAL!

Black rooster is great , my favourites to emulate Hardware is pulsar modular, kush , some waves things are great ,NLS for example....
The Arturia stuff is great too , and for Neve Emulations Noise Ash .
And I think Acustica has some absolutely bangin Stuff in there repertoire too but they are very CPU hungry and full of bugs especially in some sampling rates .

Also, emulating old rare gear means you have almost no chance (not too much) to compare this emu vs real gear... And you can't talk about how close it to gear....
there are still hundreds of newly emulated 1176 La2a, pultecs, api, ssl, neves keep releasing every year and people still argue, telling these emus are not too "even" close. How can we talk about "first and last" emu closeness of almost non-existing gear?

That stuff is a waste of time. Half the time it's people talking about units they have never even used, never mind own a real one. And now, they probably don't want to even mess with hardware. So who really cares? Some emulations do really suck, but if you look at a plugin as it's own plugin they are a lot more fun to actually use. If you are going to spend real money on one, well that's a different matter altogether. :)

Check the Ruletec's out. They are not their newest plugins but still some of the better ones.

Analog Obsession is gold when budget is low, and the plugs are of good competitive quality, and a total steal at the price. But are so numerous, one can get both spoiled and overwhelmed. I lost my mind in that dudes catalog

Red Rock gets good reviews, I've never tried, but have read great things about their quality/sound.

Softube holds it's own, and their customers love their stuff. I had their 1176 clone in trial, but went with the Pulsar 1178 (Very versatile) and the PA Purple 77.

If you wanna play a little harder, PSP Audio has a nice lineup of solid mid-range vintage products.

When going analog, pick your plugs, learn them, stick with them, and create your personal sound.

Ya I have a few buddies that have in gear money wise with what I payed for my house and we have a few larger studios in my city that have full neve boards and thousands of dollars worth of gear.. now I know not everyone is lucky enough to have friends that are mentally ill when it comes to spending money on music production gear but I tell everyone I help mentor to book a block or a fee sessions at your local studio .. any place that's worth it should have atleast a few destressors and la2a and 76 .. you never know what you might find .. and I would just bring some stems on a flash drive and just listen to what all the hype is about some of the gear I've had the privilege of checking out like a real Fairchild I hated it.. prefer the digital one more lol

Speaking of NoiseAsh, I haven't used their plugins much at all. I read someone claiming that the Neve series of plugs just use a static waveshaper for their saturation (not actually modeled/emulated saturation of Neve)

...Is that true? Is that true for all their stuff? If so that's kind of a bummer. Been wanting to try them

I have the Elysia Nuveau comp plugin through the advice of a freind. I love it!

I am not familiar with the hardware Nuveau 'Sound' to compare/argue about it. The plugun delivers tho.

I refuse to get emotional over what a guy/gal with actual hardware testing a plugin says. The majority will say "This is great at what it does, but it's nothing like hardware. Always lo-key holding that sh*t over our heads. Some pros/semi-pros choose analog over digital out of sound/familiarity/invested time/money, and some remain analog over digital because they are dinosaurs pretending to not see the meteor coming.

My Nuveau may not sound like the original, but what it does with 1.5dB of GR is...magical...to me.

And that's what counts. "How does it sound?" To you.

"It sounds like someone poured thick, creamy butter on my .wav files."

    That's all that counts.

Folks are getting placements/views/followers/money/producer Grammy nominations with FL Studio plugs/vintage emus on their mixes. No one will ever care if the 1176 plug you used on drums is faithful to the original hardware.

    "How does it sound?"

Also recommend: Lindell Plugins (Underrated beast), IK Multimedia T-Racks (A few gems), NoiseAsh (Lovely vintage products)
