    Dear all

I am new here, so firstly thank you for having me!

My dad for an early xmas present bought me the Spitfire chamber strings essentials. I already use a few LAB things in Logic and assumed I'd download it and it would all be just as easy to get started with like it has been...

    Where I am now...

I have installed Native instruments and Kontakt. I have put the products serial number in and it is sitting there as something that is legit and at the ready. When I go to locate, I hit the. brick wall with the message

Native Access Error: "Path is invalid"

I have followed there sites own advice, but there isn't a '.nicht' file anywhere on my MacBook and I can't see a NI library either like it suggests in the help.

(Choose the library folder containing the .nicnt file. This folder must contain the .nicnt file!)

I am happy to buy an album/paypal a beer or two for a solution. My sanity is being tested.

    Cheers for reading

    Matt

In native access app, there is a ... (dot dot dot) on the right of the library. Click on that and select installation paths. That will show you where the file is. Make sure you have downloaded and Installed it first in Native Access. It will say on the right side of the entry the Installed status. It sounds like you haven't yet hit the Install Button there in Native Access. After that it should show up in Kontakt. If you've done all that, you may want to try again, by clicking Uninstall in the ... menu there as well and then try again.

    Thanks for replying.

When I click on the three dots of Kontakt 7 player, it says in the installation path that the application location is "Application/Native instruments/NTKDaemonKontakt 7

When I click on locate on the strings and choose the above location, it is still coming up with Native Access Error: "Path is invalid"

Does it say "Installed" or Install to the left of the ...? (of the Strings Library)

Try to uninstall via the ... and then reinstall if possible.

Your Strings may be installed in your Documents/Native Instruments folder, or something similar. Maybe Users/Shared etc.
If you are certain it's installed, then you can find where using a free app to search files and folder names such as Find Any Folder app by looking for the name of the Strings Library.. But I'd first try the uninstall/reinstall if it allows you to.

There is something basic you're missing, but it's hard to diagnose without more info about your setup process.

Third-party Kontakt Libraries with a Serial Number Start Native Access. If the entry shows a Locate button instead, you have to download the library from the manufacturer first. After the download you can click the Locate button in Native Access and navigate to the library folder to select it.

Apparently this has happened to people before:

In my case, sometimes with OSX Kontakt and external devices Kontakt is messing with volume labels, even if you relocate or reinstall banks from native access they wont be available in library. Solution is to go finder->go to folder.. /Volumes and check there is not mounted any duplicates of volumes (they usually appear with extra number 1) and unmount any "ghost" volume. After that Kontakt is working properly.

    PS I have Kontakt, but I haven't a 'Playbox'.

I have seen one you pay for. Could this be a reason this isn't all working?

    EUREKA!!!!

Thank you so much for your patience and advice grdh20.

I reinstalled everything - it didn't work at first, so I shut down the MacBook and started from scratch again

This time the important folder that before was empty of the instruments appeared and locate accepted it. I now have chamber strings working in Logic and am so happy

Cheers and I will stick around.

    All the best

    Matt
