Hmmm, that 6 updates per year means it will be about 9 years to update 1/2 of the AA lineup, lol... so remaining hopeful AA brings the user base fully proper working tools is something most put little faith in. AA's releasing more new products than updating their over bloated library, that's a sure fire way to alienate your customer base long term, and IMHO is an unsustainable business model.

FWIW, those Gold, Water, and Acquamarine updates did not use the latest hyper compressor tech that fixes the wonky compressors.

Maybe we can get a petition going to get r2r to stop releasing these and move their attention to something better?

im new to Acustica. Hoped on board the last few months, and have already accumulated quite the collection from them. After all this drama, im feeling pretty sad now. Im hoping they change their ways, and address their issues. Making us users happy, and fixing the tech. I would gladly spend a lot more money on their plugs, as i do think they are really good, but not unless they make a non deflecting, no bullshit statement, with a plan of action on how to fix this. Paying customers should not suffer poorly performing plugins compared to warez. Ive seen all acustica's statements on how theirs actually perform better, but i believe R2R more.

I got my ban from the main GS Acqua thread for discussing much you say above, including fighting for a bug fix in the Ebony verb, for 2 years, they said was never there, yet I could and did reproduce in an audio file. I loved the tech and became a thorn in AA's side to fight for better tools for us all. In the end I realized they care little for properly working quality tools because they lack attention to detail in creating them and their business model is ultimately unsustainable. I only use a few these days and feel bad for so many that invested in unfinished Acqua's that have been semi-abandoned. IMHO, today there are only maybe 10 Acqua's ready for real world professional use.

I've been seriously using AA's Nebula IR tech since 2009, I spent 3 years on the AA beta team, beta test for both TimP and Tim Cupwise when they need me, I've personally emailed directly with Giancarlo many times, and I've made my own libraries using Nat4 after taking the developer class. I say all that so you understand I know much about this subject, yet I have little faith in AA as a company to get this right for the user base, as all I've seen is a once grand company with an amazing tech and philosophy, become filled with greed based business deadline decisions that alienate their loyal user base. Anytime I point out logical issues, like 2 days ago when I asked if the Nebula security flaw would be fixed, I get attacked on and I'm accused of being bitter, something not one single person who has ever met me or knows me would ever even utter, lol. Online fanboys protect AA, despite most having little true studio experience, or a deeper understanding of AA's tech. In the end it is what it is... maybe R2R doing this to AA and calling them out will bring about needed change. If G's arrogant posts tell us anything, it's that he's become an ego filled Scorpio hell bent on NOT making changes that will count for the end users needs. All in all, it is what it is.

This is the weirdest thing for a company that is supposed to be accurately modelling analog hardware. Their software is bloated, poorly coded, and horribly optimized. The overall user experience for me has always been pretty horrible.
The public face of the company comes across as an overly defensive, with a fragile ego and an extreme aversion to any kind of accountability.
This is all objectively observable fact.

I have never really understood why people tolerate it, or how/why they have been convinced that Acustica plugins are any better than the competition, given how objectively bad they run in comparison.

I haven't tried (and won't even bother trying) the pirated versions to see if they actually perform better, but if they do, then the paying customers objectively have a much worse experience than the pirates, besides the absolutely disgusting and pointless waste of user's precious computer resources.
That is unacceptable for me, personally, and I think there is some kind of masochism going on if other people find it acceptable.

Acustica have let a lie be perpetuated as the truth since their inception, by letting people believe that the reason for the size and crappy performance of their plugins was due to the fact that they had been meticulously sampled from the hardware. They have profited from that lie, and built their reputation and even notoriety on the back of that lie.
They rationalize and justify the extreme bloat and terrible performance as an anti-piracy method by saying "It worked." or "If we hadn't done that, then our company wouldn't be here today."

People can make of that what they will, but it seems very scummy to me.

thanks for sharing your story! major bummer. Ive just made the decision to not give them another cent unless they completely repackage everything, and change their ways.

That would be $99.99 for a Rapidgator Premium account + $120 for a good 2TB external SSD for all the installers storage + almost 1TB of space for installed plugins... and a lot of download time wasted.
My 2 cents? You're better off thinking about buying Soundtoys/Fabfilter or any useful bundle with all that money :dunno:

To make things worse they introduce new overlapping products such as Sand or Midnight which means more aquas and no technical update to existing products.

Yeah, I saw your battles on GS and I knew how they will end up :) And that's what I said about banning people to silence any constructive criticism. It really feels like they can only change when pressured enough (such as in the case of chirping debacle) but otherwise they don't seem to care.
I'm really annoyed about those gigabytes of wasted space on my SSD

In particular I feel bad for the ones that bought into the Modular platform. From memory Acustica was charging $599 for early access to the platform in its barebones state, only for the project to get left on the backburner. I haven't seen an update to that in years.

    This is really strange.
Additionally, I found some comps sounded differently (channel vs separate plugin), which I find very irritating, if not to say suspicious.

True, if they haven't been upgraded to superduper version (or was it hyper hyper?) they still don't work properly.

the thread is up an running - still under construction, but have to get the issues report section up and running first. im so fucking lazy too. will slowly update them. If you encounter any problem regarding R2R Acustica post it there. I intentionally wrote AA instead of Acustica so search engine wont find it. Is that a right call ? since yer know it's for k'd stuff.

They don't give two craps about analog emulation, why would they care about analog-like gui?
