Hey guys! This is my first lofi beat I think it turned out okay, also let me know what I can do better or have any resources I can read or look at thanks!

 

need at least one percussive element that shines bright, upfront and continuously going without really interfering the whole beat. just to give an impression that the track is balanced, it's a basic trick for Lofi music. One will do, maybe shaker or anything similar. maybe just make the hat brighter. just the hat. The track seems too dark and unbalanced because the rhythm section is all dark.

I've just looked randomly at spotify, and this song is doing what i meant. one bright element that continuously going.

I like the overall feel the piano melody gives to the track.
I'm not sure about that continuously droning pad sound. To my ears it lacks a release ... it is only one note/chord playing... what about changing the note 4 semitones down every fourth bar for example? Otherwise this is giving the track a dreary feeling, which I don't think match track.

Could be better balanced as Stevie said.
To me the kick is too intrusive. Maybe you could lower the volume a bit and go even further with the ducking/sidechaining. Could be a bit difficult though, because the kick kicks very often in the pattern ;)

Thanks for all the input guys and I left the drone for the sidechain effect but it isnt that obvious. As in you cant hear the sidechain to much. The kick does also hit quite a bit thats fersure. Again thanks for all the input guys! Like I said its my first one.
