It's not bad, but nothing special. It has some weird curves which is the main selling point but their actual usefulness is debatable.

It has a nice selection of frequencies, stepped controls if you dig that, MS (though at this point it's kind of expected).

I think it does what it's supposed to do, but what it does is more of the same we've had since forever.

    Huh?

ProQ3, maybe kirchhof EQ (never really grabbed me but seems like a good alternative)

It's a great plugin, but I recommend you try it. There's not much point in asking around whether it's great or not, unless you're asking Serban Ghenea or Max Martin. Most, over 95% of users on the web who write in forums have no idea what they are saying. Use the free trial and test it extensively. After a few days you will have a clear idea whether you need it or not in your workflow.

MAAT thEQBlue has everything minus the f-up looking curve the Relab Maselec offers. Easy to work with familiar EQ GUI + Fidef tech too.

    1. Tested out on a couple of masters the last week and really liked it.
    2. recreated the curves via plugindoctor on Weiss EQ-1 and couldn't really tell the difference on both masters. the Maselec seems to have a bit wider image, its very subtle though.
    3. because of the fixed frequencies and bell shapes it felt more easy to achieve the sound the master needed. i had the Weiss EQ-1 on the Master before the Maselec came out and i EQ'ed it in a whole different, not really better way.

my conclusion: other EQs can do the same, but it feels easy to work with and get a quick great sounding result. 50/50 for now, if i will spend another $150 for another EQ....

Yes, useless. Apart from the fact that they compared different models (which they at least stated), I can see and compare the parameters myself, no one needed to expain them. What really matters is the sound.

Yes it was a little bit of a let down but they most likely think it is a waste of time doing comparisons realtime with Youtube compression. I do enjoy their videos in general.

Providing a link to wav files is absolutely possible at YT (and not that uncommon for reviews).
As far as I could see (few vids), they're making minimum effort wannabe reviews and don't tell anything you can't find out yourself by just looking at the product.
Looks like they're having fun and are nice guys, but they don't really make reviews, IMHO, that is.
