that's what im asking is there any risk of it getting pirated becouse it's been years since it release and it still isn't avaliable on sister site should i buy it right away or wait a little more? i think the synth sounds great for 182 dollars and for dubstep which is what i mainly make it would be a great tool to have in my toolbox please everyone give me your opinions and experiences with parawave rapid 200 dollars is a lot of cash to me atleast and i have my doubts

 

You're right, it's a lot of cash indeed, I never spent that amount in any plugin.

No. Its abandonware at this point. Though, I suspect they'll do a Christmas sale as they do every year, so if you must, then wait till then to buy it. If anything ever needed to be cracked, this is it.

Also wanted to say, demo it first and see for yourself that it isnt that great or special anymore. There are a bunch of other synths that do the same and lots lots more. So unless they magically drop some new features into it that take it to a new level (their track record shows you shouldnt hold your breath!) I would say skip it.

 

i demoed it already and i like that it has 24 oscs the wavetables sound great and the sound quality is pristine to say the least im Really tempted to buy it i already have falcon 2.8.6 from sister site but rapid seems more usable to me and i dont like avenger so this is the last synth i find that offers what i want to make brostep

 

The developer has always claimed they would be adding a lot of stuff to the synth but nope. I occasionally check their website and KVR, and havent seen anything at all to indicate anything new other than random nobody chit chat.

 

i have seen a video of a new colours scheme maybe they finally update the synth i have high hopes if not the synth is pretty much usable as it is despite it not having drawable msegs

 

Trust me, I know and get what youre saying, it was at one point my fav synth, but in total honesty Arturia and Kilohearts have much "better" more capable synths now. Also, Serum is supposedly coming with a new very improved version in the near future.. I think you will regret spending $200 man. Find a way to buy it on sale or dont buy at all is my final advice.

 

You have FM8 and Phaseplant already? DSP56300 Virus emulator. Razor. Sublab, Initial 808 Studio, Largo 2, Serum, Falcon, Sylenth. And I am surely forgetting some.

And Serum 2 soon, we think. There's no way I would buy Rapid or I already would have.

 

I actually own it.
It is a powerfull synth, no doubt (especially the granulizer, the Reverb Fx and the modulation).
But the big downside is that it hasn't been updated almost a year now, and the last Expansion has even been released over 2 years now.
As sad as it probably is, I don't really think this will get any major Updates anymore.
Could be wrong though (and I really kinda hope so), but honestly, nowadays there are some Vst plugins that are capable of the same functions, like VPS Avenger (which will get a Version 2.0 release on November 23rd with probably an Intro sale until Black Friday) or Kiloheartz Phase Plant (quite underrated Synth imho).
So my advice is, save your money and wait for the black Friday sale if you happen to get Internet Access by that time.

 

i know damm sure i wont have ethernet access by that time so i will go ahead and very probably buy it i find avenger to be a cpu hog and i dont like phaseplant so i will go with rapid

 

none of those synths come close to rapid im very sure about my purchase right now

 

- and wasnt that "update" just a VST3 addition? And the year prior it was just a chorus fx? I forget. But yes, expansions stopped years ago too.

Is parawave rapid a safe and good buy?

At full price and without any new major update, in my opinion, 100% no and no.

I totally forgot Rapid even existed, I got it confused with Spire. When Rapid came out in 2016, it had a lot of hype and had a fancy trailer and everything, but I wrote it off as snake oil. With Serum, Vital and Pigments available for $0, I don't see the point in paying that much. Maybe if it was on sale and you got money to burn and really love wavetables and catching pokemon or something. There are worse things to spend your money on though.

 

i love catching pokemons lol im in love with wavetables and pokemons i have 174 hours on pokemon scarlet and all the legendaries

Have you used Spire and Thorn at all? I'm checking out the demo of Parawave Rapid. My answer has already switched. Would I pay 200$ for this plugin as it stands at v1.8.7. No way in hell.

i'd use it if I already had it, but I am having a hard time finding where they keep all the secret features. You know, the ones that aren't in like every other wavetable synth on the market now? I don't really believe in the "magic" synth to make some specific type of sound. Usually when someone wants to attribute certain types of sounds to certain synths; it's because they are copying someone else or some genre-specific "famous sound". Like the Korg M1 "house organ", or square wave bass; hoover, techno kick rumbles. People will often attribute those certain sounds with certain synths; but when you ask why it needs to be a Korg M1 to make a house organ sound, they can never tell you why not to use the other 100 synths that can do the exact same thing.
