Just a quick question: I've wondered for a while, if you record a song and use a Kontakt library (or any other library), for instance Eduardo Tarilonte's "Shevannai - Voice of the Elves". Is there any protocol to follow in giving credit? So if you make a CD and it uses the voice of this library, should the maker, Eduardo Tarilonte, be credited? Or do you credit the singer Lara Ausensi for her voice or simply the company "best service". Or all, or none?

    Thanks!

    PS: This forum rocks.

Hi Nikon, thanks for your reply.

Didn't find much. Just credits of who was involved but nothing about copyright. There is a lot about how to use it and who owns the rights of the sounds, samples, etc. But it doesn't say anything about crediting the software, performer or programmer in your own production. I guess they don't care.

    Fair enough.

    Thanks again!

Or you would go safer by emailing them asking for an answer regarding your concern. :dunno:

"Only the purchaser of this CD is authorized to use the sounds for his music-, multimedia-, film-, radio-, games-, webcast- or similar productions and only as long as no isolated samples, loops or phrases become available for a third party."

You can use their library, as long as you bought it, and you don't use them 'as is', anywhere you want. No need to credit anyone.

I wouldn't say "BIG TIME", but in productions that are being sold nevertheless.

    Haha, true.

The thing is: I do download some libraries, but if I use them and like them, I purchase them. If I make a buck with it, I give a buck in return

Hi PMS. Yes, that's one of the EULA's that I read. Still, no information about crediting anyone. Which is why I assume that they don't require it; otherwise it'd be there.

    Cheers.

Thanking to everyone for your responses.

There's no requirement as such. If you choose to credit them, you do it as a courtesy. In that case, you would credit the company.
