first things that come to my mind were:
    1. demo scene music
    2. chiptunes
    3. keygen/cracktro music
    4. (early 90's) games intro music (sega, etc.)
not exactly any genre. anyway, good music. missing some optics. would probably work good in a demo.

head over to https://www.pouet.net/ and get involved.
maybe some demo group is interested

thats reminds me of the old monkeys typing shakespeare thing, you stick a billion monkeys in a room with typewriters one will accidentally come up with something brilliant. i love history but it doesn't make our ancestors geniuses, or dumbasses for that matter- but to say that Derff the village idiot who survives off squirrel and cow shit is automatically superior to mcdonalds, eh. I'll drink some of todays wine, you can drink ancient mongolion fermented mares milk lets see who has a better party. just like genetically modified food, thats not INHERENTLY bad, shitty corporations tweaking genetics to make more profit is, but its also saved a shitload of people who would have had slow terrible long deaths. Corn used to be maize, dogs used to be wolves but humanity. phones used to be plugged in.

anyway i just dislike using history as matter as fact as that, when there is a huge spectrum of behavior across time and cultures. there still is, you're speaking as if everyone lives off twinkies and burger king in the world. and ive seen pictures of meat markets in third world country or maybe china, those are all natural lol but uhhh yeah not sure about sanitary.

There have been several billion humans on an entire planet continuously for 400 years since that guy's death. No luck so far.

It isn't easy to share our music and I'm sure there are many reading this thread who wish they had the courage. That said I'll tell you what I think about it (which is neither here nor there, I'm not important - what you need is consensus).

I get the impression that you're too close to the canvas, refining the details and pouring in more ideas without stepping back to see what the whole looks like. It's too busy, the eye isn't led in any particular direction. You have too many good things going on all at once and you could probably create four or five different pieces from each track. It reminds me of the saying that what you don't play is just as important as what you do play - space is just as important as the notes. It creates atmosphere and I think you need that.

I can't say that i disagree with any of this, it's mostly just stylistic choices. I am trying to keep an open mind and is very thankful for any recommendations, it's just pretty hard to navigate all the genres of electronic music when you're new and not looking for EDM or ambient

Hey now! I'm sure we can find common ground. We all hate country, right? Or ska?

Why don't you mention them? I would love to find new music. Of course i am going to have a bad take, i'm new to electronic music and am mostly trying to explain my observations as an outsider. Also, i had more plays on Bandcamp yesterday than the last three years, so it is not really that bad of a strategy to be bad at communicating and appear to attack someone elses genres. Sorry if it seemed like i was an asshole or something.

Thank you! I have an album called "Anatidaephilia" that is purposefully more mellow and laid back, maybe that is more to your liking.

Thank you! I am trying to find my place, but there are so many subgenres and when you're new, there is so many things that sounds the same to the untrained ear. And so many things that are supposed the be the same thing, but is so different for someone without the cultural context.

Well, as everyone has pointed out my ignorance about electronic music. It would be fair to call this only electronic in instrumentation.

But...but...i need my tiny, cute, square waves

Yeah, i know the production isn't great. But it's just such a chore and i mostly make it for myself. So if it's good enough for me, then everyone else is going to have to live with it too. I'd rather make more music, than mixing.

Hey angry internet person. Cool that you just had to give me a history lesson to show that you are vastly more knowledgeable about music, also that you had to tell me your political views. I'm sorry that my music makes you so angry. Now go argue with someone else, i don't care about what you have to say.

Did i say that i fully grasped the point of all music theory? I just make stuff that i like, even if it is experimenting with concepts i don't fully understand.

Of course, there is so much to explore. But it is really hard to know where to start when you're looking for things that aren't mainstream EDM or ambient stuff. I'll check out all those artists that you mentioned.

Wheter you like it or not, modern electronic music is about harmony, rhythm and repetition. Or, in other words, all the things you put below melody. However complex or simplistic it is.
And people love it for what it is. I love it for what it is.

Yeah, that first part isn't helping with the social anxiety.

Of course, i am ignorant. I don't know what i'm doing, i'm bad at expressing myself, and i don't have any reference points other than that i don't like EDM. I'm not trying to make some grandiose art or pretentious statement about anything. I just make music that i like to listen to, and it is a lot easier to point out thing you don't like and do the opposite, than to figure out the good things and emulate that without feeling like you're just stealing.

Sure: Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Bogdan Raczynski, U-Ziq, Venetian Snares.

"Whether it's good talk or bad talk about me, as long as you're talking and making me the center of your world, I win", yeah, it really seemed like you were being an entitled asshole, at least it seemed to me so thanks for clearing that up! At least it got you some plays anyways.

Not really, but there is so much EDM everywhere and hard to find things that isn't. I'm in my thirties, so i don't really have the time or motivation to explore the literally hundreds of subgenres when i probably won't like most of it.

Well, metal and chiptune are the two genres i listen to the most
