Audient iD14 MKII vs Audient iD24 which has the lowest latency input?

    the title sums it up which has the lowest latency input ive seen two videos from this guy named julian krause you can look it up on youtube and he says the round trip latency is lower on the audient id14 than the audient id24 is this real? if so is input latency lower on the id14 mkII than in the id24 at 44100 or 48000 hz ? i wanna know before i pick one of them since im reallly and i mean REALLY tempted right now 2ms of input latency for 200 - 300 euros sounds to good to be true what do you guys think which of them has the lowest input latency?

    I think this is a better question. Why do you think they would be different?

    "We at Sweetwater are pleased to report that this latest version of Audient’s iD14, the MKII, packs even better audio conversion, zippy USB 3.0 transmission speeds, and a future-looking USB-C connection for greater compatibility with modern laptops and tablets."

    They do not mention anything about the MKII having lower latency than MKI.

    btw, the ID24 is $50 cheaper at Perfect Circuit than at Sweetwater.

    becouse one has a higher asking price thus probably has a better input latency but i just wanna make sure before i buy

    That would be an assumption. So would trying to use a price to indicate differences between models. And so is just trusting some guy on Youtube. Normally model #s refer to I/O counts more than they indicate about certain specs like Latency. MK1 and MK11 (mark numbers) indicate a change to the unit design/build, but sometimes that can just be a corrective change to fix some small known problem. Or sometimes, they indicate something like a change from Burr Brown input convertors to AKM. One Reddit post mentions this change for some models. This is the sort of stuff you research yourself when you are buying something. The DSP mixer numbers on this spec sheet are just for their software, not the entire RTL of the interface. With more reading, you may notice the claim that the ID14 will not allow you to bypass the preamp. So if that matters to you, it's something else to research.

    Try to keep in mind how much your audio interface can contribute to "your sound".

    sorry to bother you clone last question but do you know which is the DSP MIXER LATENCY ROUND TRIP (in-to-out): for my scarlet solo 3rd gen? i wonder how the audient compares to my scarlet solo in that field Thank you so much for everything

    You forget I had a Scarlett 3rd gen before. I would not trust a single number from their software. Half of the time, Focusrite Control software would tell me that my 18i20 wasn't even connected. I did not mean to point out that spec to be positive about it. You would need to know if they are running the exact same software to compare those numbers. They are supplied so someone looking says how great they are, when they are basically meaningless.

    Maybe any of the recent Steinberg/Yamaha interfaces as they have a latency-free DSP with various effects including the "Guitar Amp Classics".

    if I was a guitar player and using this forum I would be on pc. so many of the plugins i would want if i was a guitar player, would be r2r releases. But I wouldn't be buying a 200$ interface hoping to record acoustic or other realtime instruments and other mic'd sources. But I would also never be recording at 44.1 16bit either. And I would not have some compulsion about Latency like this.

    So you are back to making a decision with a driver software actually costing you a decent chunk of change, and factoring heavily into RTL. There are charts of all this information available to look up posted on GS. If all that matters to you is RTL differences caused by drivers/connection types, you will probably end up comparing a Presonus and an RME.

    Too tired now to read all the other comments, so forgive me if I'm echoing anyone above.
    AUDIENT ID14 MKII is amazingly great at latency. Just ensure you're using USB-C 3.0 and a fast pooter. You might want to ensure all latency issues are resolve via THIS GUY'S TUTORIAL. Found his streamlining tips INCREDIBLY ACCURATE as regards my new system's quirks. (Can't believe how upgrading the internet drivers actually did what it did!)

    Sound travels in 1ms 1.13 feet or 34.3 cm.

    Do you really care if you are ~ 3feet/1m more away from your speakers? If yes, you are probably no musician.

    You should care more for the features of an interface than 3ms more latency.

    I've have used an ID4 MK 1 for four or five years for all of my guitar plugins and I have never had latency issues. I bought mine used off ebay and at the time I researched the crap out of these devices and I found that Focusrite owners had their fair share of issues. I'm sure that the MK 2 ID4 will be better but I can see no reason as to why I would need to upgrade as my MK1 does what I need it to do.

    The OP had extensive replies in another thread in regard to the lowest latency USB interfaces available. He didn't specify a budget range or other useful info to make us give the best advise for him.
    I will sum it up for the last time here:

    You want the best possible USB latency times (and best CPU efficiency and stability of drivers) under 1000 euros?
    Get a RME Babyface PRO FS. To cut the cost you could buy a used first gen RME Babyface for 250/350 price range and still have optimal low latency and best of the best drivers.

    Stay away from Apollo Twin USB3 because it has poor performance (I didn't see it mentioned in the LLP chart from GS tonight when replying to the other thread but I just saw it now and its performance is terrible).

    I wouldn't bother with other USB interfaces as the RMEs are just rock-solid and better overall than all interfaces in the 250/350 euros interfaces.

    Looking forward to the next thread when OP buys the interface but turns out the latency is 1ms higher than expected, and it suddenly becomes unusable because of that.

    You get it. It's similar to how someone gets some compulsive need for some old version of a plugin that is nowhere to be found online. "v6.3 build 240" is the MAGIC version!! (because someone else told me that). These threads are also open-ended and without facts enough to almost qualify as trolling. Ask a open-ended question, and watch people left to their own devices go on and on for 10 useless pages. Audio Interfaces are an easy one to do it with, especially on here. People will simply suggest and defend whatever it is they are using themselves. Spending $1000 is often a major decision for them.

    Maybe I just partially expect this, as the OP has posted music he has worked on here. It's all been EDM/dubstep and sample-based. Input latency doesn't mean much at all when you are using 0 external sound sources.
