is there a way to draw in notes (in active part) at where notes of non-active part (ghost notes) already exist without activating editing the non-active part(it auto switches to other part assuming u want to edit, but i just want to draw in notes at where notes are in the non-active part). This wasn't happening with the draw tool in cubase 12 , but now it does. Its pretty annoying , the non active part should just serve as ghost notes until made active.

Nope you can't i already tried no ghost notes at all... i thought they would implement that into the new multi editing feature but they didn't i guess it never crossed they minds........you can put them notes on top of each other if u want to u will end up with a big mess lol

there is a method that you can do that i been doing for years in Cubase is whatever chord progression you have make a another midi track and drag your chord progression there
and then grab the mute tool and highlight all the chords within the progression it should turn white after that drag that muted chord progression into the editor where your trying to make your melody at and place it 1 octave or 2 octaves above the melody u making so u can look at the chord notes for each bar i know its not ghost notes but at least u get to see the notes of each chord while u making a melody i been doing this for years i never seen nobody else do it in Cubase

my point is say u have a note c3 in non active part A, if part B is active and u want o draw note on c3 as well (at same location of note), it will auto switch to editing part A. which sucks because i currently want to remain in part b even though i'm drawing an overlapping note

On the toolbar in the midi editor there is a stack-symbole, there you can choose to edit only the active parts Bildschirmfoto 2023-11-04 um 11.26.31.png
(works with pencil to draw/edit notes)

    this sound weird

    I havent installed C13 yet

Try to start drawing notes after you have selected a note in the active part, maybe this trick works (and try with regular arrow and also with pencil tool...) lemme know, I am curious

Anyhow it could also be a preference now, I dont think that they made this big change, unless it's a mistake and they will fix in the first maintainance update

in cubase 12, with the draw tool it won't switch to the non-active if u try to draw the overlap note but with the arrow tool it switches. in cubase 13 both switch anyway..
