Omnisphere install help mac catalina 10.15.7

    Hello guys and sorry in advance if this is not the correct place or way to ask this it is my first time posting, i've looked though countless threads about mac install and still cant get it to work with logic.

    To preface, I am able to get omnisphere to work using a bootcamp partition on mac running windows 10 and ableton but i would like to use it on mac catalina with logic pro x ver 10.5.1

    Here is the title of download i have been working with:

    Spectrasonics.Omnisphere.2.DVDR.D1-D8.-R2R-DYNAMiCS

    following these instructions:

    STEP 1.
    Unzip STEAM parts 1-15 using Keka and extract the ISO wherever you like.

    STEP 2(a)
    Mount (open) the ISO image and drag the Spectrasonics folder from inside the ISO to wherever you want it to live. This can be an external drive, but for convenience use the default location "~/Library/Application Support/Spectrasonics/STEAM"

    STEP 2(b)
    Use the application "BatChmod" to give write permission to your newly created Spectrasonics folder and all subfolders/files.

    STEP 3 (optional)
    Create an alias to the Spectrasonics Folder which should be placed at the location in STEP 2. if you have not placed the actual Spectrasonics folder there.

    STEP 4
    No step 4 on MacOS.

    STEP 5
    Unzip Step 5 archive (do not change the folder hierarchy!) and double-click the .pkg installer file. You will need an admin password to install, as usual. DO NOT start Omnisphere yet.

    STEP 6(a)
    1. Unzip Step 6 archive and run Keygen App.
    2. Move the VST and AU plugins from "Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/(Components/VST)" to a new folder with write access.
    3. PATCH the all the Omnisphere VST and AU plugins. Patch means click the "Patch" button in the keygen and direct it to the plugins; a dialog will open requiring you to point to the plugin you want to patch. The Keygen App will see the Mac plugin as just another folder. What you need to patch is inside the plugin; "plugin(seen as a folder)/Contents/MacOS/Omnisphere".
    4. Move the plugins back into their respective folders; "Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/(Components/VST)".

    STEP 6(b)
    Run Omnisphere in the Applications folder. It may take a while to load the first time. Do not panic. Be patient, after a while the Omnisphere registration window will open and provide you with a Challenge Code.

    STEP 6(c)
    Copy and paste (using right-click!) the Challenge Code into the Keygen's Challenge Code window.

    STEP 6(d)
    Press the GENERATE button and copy the generated Response Code. You can right-click and choose "Copy" if you're doing this in the keygen on the Mac. It will copy to the Mac clipboard.


    STEP 6(e)
    Paste the copied Response Code into the Omnisphere's Response Code Line by pressing the Paste tab. After this operation the key generator is no longer is needed.

    STEP 6(f)
    Press the Continue tab and when the next window appears, quit the Omnisphere application.

    STEP 7
    Unzip Step 7 archive (do not change the folder hierarchy!) and run the Omnisphere 2 Data Updater.pkg (Soundsource update) in the Mac folder. Your admin password will be required.

    STEP 8
    Unzip Step 8 archive (do not change the folder hierarchy!) and run the Omnisphere Data Updater.pkg (Patch library update) in the Mac folder. Your admin password will be required.

    STEP 9
    Unzip Step 9 archive (do not change the folder hierarchy!) and run Bob Moog Tribute Patch Library.pkg (Bob.Moog.Tribute.Patch.Library.Update) in the Mac folder. Your admin password will be required.

    STEP 10
    Run Omnisphere. You should be good to go...

    N.B. Software updates kill the crack, so yo have to go through step 6 again after an update.

    After doing these steps logic scans for plugins and omnisphere shows up in the plugin manager, but It wont shop up on a channel in logic to open and complete the authentication.

    There's much simpler way, at least for me, downloaded 2.8 Core Library STEAM from famous Russian torrent site, placed it in App Support, but you can pretty much place it wherever you want, it will ask you for location on first run anyways, than installed MORiA 2.8.5d version from same site and it's done, no keygens, patching or anything.

    Thanks for the reply, I will clean my MacBook and try this method tomorrow. You currently have v2.8 running properly in logic? Are you able to get trillion and keyscape working as well? Thanks

    go to your plugin manager. highlight Omnisphere on the right side. Click Reset and Rescan Selection. An AU Val tool window should open. White box with text, it will say Audio Unit Validation Result. Copy and paste it here.

    You could try these two steps below before even doing that. If you want.

    You most likely need to Codesign the plugin and your entire Steam folder. The next step would be to BatChmod or Permissions Reset those two items again. Restart Logic and check.


    in Terminal, this can codesign every plugin on the machine all at once. It takes a little while, just let it do it's thing. You do still need to have xcode installed first. You can remove lines for any plugin formats you do not use, but leave the bundle related commands. Do your Steam folder also, just change command to reflect that folder. Or use Codesigner.app if you have it handy. You will need to restart Logic for any of these things to reflect any changes you make.

    Thank you @clone i will have a look at this as well, I did do the reset and rescan in plugin manager and had a positive validation but I will post the results here tomorrow when I’m back at my macbook. I wanted to clarify a couple things if possible: you say I may need to batchmod or permission reset the plugin and steam folder? Are you referring to the componant and vst files when you say the plugin? I’m feeling like the code signing seems to be the problem with logic. I don’t know anything about Xcode or code signing so I might need a little more help with the easiest way to that if at all possible. Again I am very grateful for the help

    i only use Logic, so any "plugin" is a .component file for me. I delete every VST and VST3 that I get stuck installing. Both of those folders are always blank. (this saves ssd space)

    The reason I can tell you where you are at in the installation process, is because Logic Plugin Manager can "See" the plugin. Now, when you attempt to Validate it with the Logic AU Valtool; is when it shows why it did not load. It's always either Codesigning needed, or a permissions issue with something the system needs to open. If it was not "seeing" the plugin, I normally use a little app called OSX Validate All AU's. This forces the system to see the new .component file and try to validate it. Without rebooting, that's the best part of that.


    to install Xcode, just open Terminal and type or paste in: xcode-select


    Codesigning is just a way to apply a Digital Signature to a file, usually something which you have manually put there.

    go on sister site and search for Codesigner. it's a little app that has a GUI , you load the file in (from it's location), select deep, probably enter your password and it will codesign the file for you. But you can do it it in Terminal also. It gets old af typing those commands for every little thing. You can load multiple files into Codesigner at one time.

    Smart update from the standalone says this:

    software 2.8.5d latest: 2.8.5f
    Soundsources 2.0c latest: 2.6.1c
    patches 2.0b1 latest: 2.8.1c

    also diagnostics window in the standalone shows the steam folder is in the proper location

    Ok. Your versions are exactly the same as legit. Standalone is opening to where you can click Dignostics, Steam folder is correct location.

    You can play it as Standalone? Logic seems happy with the results of AUValtool. What is the problem you are running into? Screenshot if it is complicated.

    You do have to go back in Logic Plugin Manager sometimes, and actually re-check the box which says "Use". Next to Compatibility column. After that, it should re-initialize Core Audio.

    I think it's just a issue of Codesigning and Permissions still. Your AU ValTool results are as similar to mine as you will get with a different computer.

    Yes so the problem is when I open logic x Omnisphere does not appear in the Audio Units section where plugins should be, even though it does verify in the plugin manager. Very strange

    Are you trying to load it into an Audio FX slot or a Instrument slot? In Logic, go to Track menu up top. Click New Tracks. Click Software Instrument. Down Arrow icon for Details. On the left side you should see a dropdown menu for instrument. See if Omnisphere is in that list. It will be under AU Instruments, Spectrasonics, Omnisphere.

    You are at about step 5 or 6 where you start patching stuff. check your pms in a minute. Permissions Reset the Steam folder. Use Codesigner to Codesign that entire Steam folder and the Omnisphere.component plugin. Skip the Bob Moog Tribute installation until after you get Omnisphere working. it can cause problems.

    The patch/kg you are going to use do not authenticate using their website. Block both the Application and the Component file with your firewall. If you do not have one, get LuLu it is free. https://objective-see.org/products/lulu.html. create a rule for the application and the plugin.


    if you want, you can also block them via hosts file. add 0.0.0.0 www.spectrasonics.com. then save the file.


    Hosts File Location on Macs
    1. Launch the macOS Terminal application.
    2. Go to the Finder, then Click Go.
    3. Click Utilities.
    4. Double-click Terminal to launch the Terminal window.
    5. Now, enter the following command: sudo nano /etc/hosts.
    6. Then, enter the sudo password for your user to allow edit access to the file.

    Man I feel really silly ‍♂️ I opened it in the software instrument drop-down and it seems to work perfect. I guess I was trying to open it in the effects section. Thank you so much! I will next be working on betting trillion and keyscape working. One more question, it shows I have soundsources 2.0c and patches 2.0b1 do I need to update these? Thanks again! @clone

    oh, haha. I did not notice your info about those showed both yours and the most recent. You should be able to update them, but not from them! lol. You will need to get the newest update only version that you can find. You do not need to install them chronologically. Just the newest one.
