I know I know. It's really a John song. Peter Jackson's team's lifting technology is amazing.

Documentary for the effort is also available. Link here:

It's an awesome song. I hope it hits #1 on Billboard Charts. Paul McCartney heard something in John Lennon's old scrap cassette demo, and here's the proof that he was spot on. Freakin' awesome song. Imagine what these guys could have done in today's world . . . with the tools found on the sister site. ;-)

... and if they only had these really good cables back then.

    :)

Now, seriously, that song is ... fantastic. In another way fantastic than hearing Abbey Road in 1969 for the first time. but that is around 55 years ago and we are not - or better: I am not - the same person as back then. So ... Now And Then is fantastic.

I am a huge fan of the Beatles but I I'm afraid this song didn't resonate to me.

I can't say that the song is bad but compared to what they did...

It's ok, I don't think it would have made it onto any Beatles album and maybe none of Lennon's solo albums. The lyrics are too meh, there's no typical Lennon cutting edge. The music lacks the Beatles or Lennon sound - also the orchestration of George Martin. Ironically, considering Lennon wasn't a member, to me it sounds much more like a Traveling Wilbury song when it gets moving. Was Jeff Lynne involved?

First impression: that video sounds like a terrible mp3. I have to hear a better version. Voice sounds less... dead... than the 90s... song is definitely ok, not a classic but hey, it's what we got and it's nice to hear. Gotta get an hq stream and listen more.

Sad, beautiful, (but I agree with other's....not John's best), and kind of creepy, I think. They've done it before.....I thought those were kind of creepy too. Like the Door's "An American Prayer". In 1995 they released another posthumous song, “Free as a Bird,” on the compilation album “Anthology 1,” followed by “Real Love” on “Anthology 2” in 1996.

    I Love The Beatles.

Now and Then, is better than I expected.

It could have used a good Harrison solo.

    Bittersweet!

Would have been cool to have gone out Rockin'!

Bout time!! These Beatles kids need to get off their collective ass' and finally release another full album. :snuffy:

:goodpost: Under-appreciated at best, and at worst, unrecognized... same as ELO.

They would become auto-tune addicts, give up singing, and abandon playing their instruments when confronted with MIDI and sample libraries. George Martin and Yoko would sing instead, but no one would notice.

[It's an outrage that they auto-tuned John's voice. He was one of the best pop singers there ever was. The instrumentals are miserable and the arrangement is childish. The sound is intentionally edgy, in line with the current fashion for ironic music.]

Wow, that sounds really bad, muddy and totally over compressed.

Edit: I just had to double check I didn't forget a compressor or limiter on my monitor bus, but it really sound this bad... That's the official release??

I always thought Jeff Lynne was good enough to have been a Beatle.

I'm hoping they just kept the quality on the video pretty bad to discourage ripping...

They certainly succeeded if that was the case. But also, we can only guess at what the original source materials were like. The bar for a "new Beatles track" is so high , that this is not close to my expectations. Maybe it will "grow on me" but I have never had this initial reaction to any of their other songs.
