OK so I downloaded and installed this on another machine but i would really like to use it on my High Sierra. I copied the plugin over I even activated the license in my iLOK for it, but because UAconnect is not compatible with High Sierra its not being unlocked. It starts in Logic pro but the gui is blurred out. So I guess UAConnect software must be some kind of bridge between the plugin and the iLok. I thought just activating in my iLok would make it work in Logic. Anyone have a work around? Would love it to work in HS Logic pro. Its licensed in my iLok but just cant connect the two so it can unlock.

High Sierra is not supported - it won't work. You need a more recent OS version. Nothing to do with the copy protection.

It installs in Logic OK and opens but says at the bottom about opening UAconnect which obviously is the only thing I cant install. I can make it work if I switch the plugin itself to the basic Logic controls in the edit button top right of the plugin, even the presets load and I can adjust everything. Just would look better if I could use the gui for the plugin. So its not that it wont work, its just unlocking the blurred image of its gui.

send me a pm with a link to the .component file. Half of the time I see them say the minimum requirement is Mojave or Catalina, and I can get them working on High Sierra by doing nothing but the standard install process.

    COMPATIBILITY
Stand-alone, VST, VST3, AU, AAX, Windows (10+), Mac (OS X 10.14+) on Intel or ARM M1, we've got you covered. Falcon's core has been optimized for efficient performance on all popular platforms and DAWs.

Almost every developer is posting some mistakes.

UAConnect is only needed for installing/updating the plugins. It's not needed to run them, and they work perfectly fine if you disable, or don't have UAConnect installed (loads of people run it like this). Just activate the iLok licence in your iLok licence manager as any other iLok plugin.

Assuming you have activated your iLok licence (blurred GUI indicates it's unlicensed), then you might be running old/outdated iLok software, so, *if a newer iLok installation still supports an HS installation*, install that. If it doesn't, and the iLok protection needs a newer version of the iLok support files to decrypt the plugin, you're likely out of luck.

Edit: Looks like iLok support is from Sierra onwards (10.12+), so you should be good there.

Without UA Connect installed you cannot get files from UAD. That's why I asked for the AU plugin file. I think the Blurred GUI is more of a UAD thing really. I have not seen any plugin blurred using iLok from other developers. It's funny but I do not use iLok for very much at all, and the things I use it for I have not had a single problem with it. But some free plugins from other developers are not the same seamless thing. I was under the impression they would all be the same, but that is incorrect. It can be different based on what the developer wants, apparently.

Sure, but the poster is already experiencing the blurry gui, so he already has the files. Like I say, once installed, UA Connect is not needed. You could install on a more recent machine and copy the plugin and support files over, I'm sure, on those machines.

Yes, it's what UA display before the plugin is decrypted via iLok, at which point the full plugin GUI is displayed.

Correct, this is not a iLok thing, it's how UA have implemented their plugins.

Note - for UADx plugins, people were running early versions on Mojave, which was unsupported, but worked. Then a plugin update came out, and the people running them on Mojave could no longer run them (and there was much complaining, even though UA said Mojave was never supported, it was only by luck the early versions worked at all).

If they don't work on Mojave, they are unlikely to work on HS, but if you want to persevere, and get it working, do let us know.

if you create a UAD account, you have a UAD account. If you make an iLok account, now you have one of those too. They do not automatically link. You have to give UAD your credentials and permission to use them to create whatever sort of data tunnel between their databases. If UA Connect mattered, this would be some kind of clumsy 3-way-handshake. No-one but a glutton for punishment would ever program that for something like this between 2 cloud located database tables. They would do something more like this:

The SQL equivalent of VLOOKUP is a JOIN statement. A JOIN statement is used to combine rows from two or more tables based on a related column between them. Like VLOOKUP, a JOIN statement allows you to retrieve data from one table based on a value in another table.

OK, I just downloaded a trial of oxide tape plugin. Copied the files to my usb stick and transfered to High sierra. At first it popped up with the blurred gui thing saying install UAConnect at the bottom of the gui. This one is licensed to iLok cloud so I then closed Logic and opened a session of iLok cloud. Then I opened Logic. ilok notification popped up saying authorising license. The gui to the plugin then popped up (no prompt to say install UAConnect this time) but gui remained blurred. So it seems iLok is authorising the plugin but something is stopping the gui from unblurring. Same as before.

btw the componant file and a folder in application support have to be transffered across which i did.

OK, I just looked on their website under troubleshooting. Looks like it maybe the UAconnect software that unblurrs the gui as It says if the gui is blurred UAconnect may not be connecting to the internet.
So I guess Im never going to unblurr it. Unless anyone has any ideas?

i'm not trying to be cute about it. i took the time to read all this stuff, and i still do not know this will work. i already posted that fact. when someone sends me the .component file AU plugin so I can check, I will check. i'm not jumping thru hoops logging in and out on various browsers, just to find out it won't work. these websites detect if you have an account, etc. This changes the webpages it will display, and probably the token encoded into the URL; otherwise the website would ask you the same things every time you went there. this is a free plugin i do not even care about, a not-so-hot Plugin Doctor screenshot was already posted.

    i sent you a pm.

Nope. I block UA connect on my machine. Other people uninstall/delete it completely, without problems. I can load all the UADx plugins. As said above, UA Connect *is not required to run the plugins*. I'm not making this up.

Like I say - most likely, the plugins require a later version of macOS to work. Hence the system requirements.

thanks to the post, i just reclaimed my free license. Permanent license will make exploring ilok a bit more easier.

it works fine on windows 10 without any problems.
Hope the macOS folks gets to work too.

Yes, I get what your saying. However, it does work, as I said, if I switch to the logic controls on the plugin, I can adjust the setting, I can also load its presets. The only thing not working is the unblurring of its own gui.
I went over to my hackintosh Catalina system where it works fine. I dragged UAconnect into the bin. I then started logic pro and added the plugin. It instantly said not licensed. Soon as I put back UAConnect it ran fine again. So UAConnect somehow works hand in hand with iLok. Maybe it's just this plugin. It's new and not the same as the payed version in the bundle. Maybe they've changed something.??

BTW before someone says we'll if I already have Catalina why am I bothering with High Sierra. My Catalina is on a low spec system, where as my HS is on a much better and newer system and runs much faster.

I just feel that what's happening is when the plugin loads it checks the UADConnect for a license that is stored on the app itself. Reason being. On Catalina. I can pull the plug on Internet, start Logic and a pop up in Logic will moan that it can't reach iLok, but UAConnect will show in the tray as running and the plugin will run as normal offline without an ilok connection.

I grabbed this. I realize it's their gateway into their ecosystem, but I'll try to control myself. ;-)

See, this is what I wanted to look at, exactly. I would still be listing stuff to check, so thank you @jonsmusic for the file. So, Applications don't have a permission structure that allows the program to change itself. When you save something in a program, it does not start as 1.0 meg in size and then become 1.1 meg by the time you close it. that information is either stored locally in a file where it has r-w-x permissions for it's user, or on the server side. The iLok website and the plugin get this information without any user input of these codes.

if you go in your iLok "my account" on the ilok website, click on the device, it will show a table of all your activated entries. the 4th column over will contain your license ID code and this is the only difference between them. I have one plugin where it's license code is 7, literally. These codes are not being generated. All the UVI stuff I use, also has these codes. But they appear to be Product Codes like UVISC28, or FC and a number also; and they are all repetitive. Three plugins I have never used are blank in that database field, and that is including this one. If we can delete the UA Connect program after activation like has been mentioned above, where does our iLok find this number? This also has to be stored locally for the iLok application to get that number. It isn't extracting it from another application and it can't go get it from iLok website. That would not make any sense from a security standpoint. This free plugin is looking somewhere locally, or we would need to allow it to re-connect again every time you rebooted.

Once your UAD account is linked to your iLok account, your new license shows up in your iLok manager software without even doing any additional actions. If you can delete the program and it continues to function, the UA connect is leaving some kind of file on the system.

UA Connect wants 10.14 Mojave, not 10.13, these are not massive changes; and developers are getting this wrong already with unrelated installers. Obviously the OpenCore patcher install of Mojave would likely work, but I am not going to make a change like that to a DAW computer over just this one plugin. Is there anything preventing UAConnect from running in a VM of Mojave via Parallels Desktop, Virtualbox or Fusion?
